The opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) is set to stage an islandwide motorcade on Sunday, 9 November, calling for an independent investigation into what it describes as the “vehicle-gate scandal.”
The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. from the Rising Sun Grounds before travelling across several communities.
Party officials have urged supporters to join the procession, describing it as a show of public dissatisfaction with what they allege is corruption within the current Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party administration.
In a public address promoting the event, organisers said the motorcade aims to “show strength in numbers” and “send a clear message” demanding transparency and accountability.
The UPP maintains that only an independent inquiry can restore public confidence, while government representatives have yet to issue a formal response to the planned demonstration.

Not even a “motorcade” can help Pringle to READ, REASON or SPEAK properly. It doesn’t matter how many pickets, protests or demonstrations are staged, the FACT remains: PRINGLE IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE READY FOR LEADERSHIP!!!
He just too damn DUNCE and EMPTYHEAD!!!!!
this morning on the radio the RAG-TAG Clown was lamenting at the POOR TURNOUT of yesterday’s “picket”. She claimed say that people are afraid of losing contracts, so that’s why hundreds of Antiguans refused to join in the PAPPYSHOW CIRCUS put on by the IMF Party.
The real reason is that Antigua people are smart and know who they want to lead them. Clearly they have no faith in the UPP. Their “sunshine government” years left a terrible scar in the psyche of the people.
The Hon. Pringle is yet to say if he and his party will picket the DEALERSHIP(S). Why so mute on this matter?
1). The Dealership vex that Labour Party allowed poor people to be able to import used cars from Japan? (Dem wicked libba was doing the same and jacking up the price)
2). The Dealership is keeping LIEserver Radio on air?
Who is responsible for political
strategy?
Motorcade is a Bad strategy.
Strength in numbers? Give me a break!
So if there is strength in numbers, if the turn out is low then it shows weakness.
I bet that no more than 10 vehicles will take part or that it gets postponed. The UPP needs new leadership.
To quote the late Missa Derrick “WHO IS ADVISIMG THIS MAN?”
@ “WHO IS ADVISING THIS MAN?”
His advisor has degrees in Caribbean Economics and a PHD in political science.
These are not people who cares about Antigua, They are just looking for big jobs which will never happen; for Pringle is not ready for prime Time
so many advisors and still Mr. Pringle cannot understand or analyze their advice because his head is empty!
Chuptz! Stay with organizing your karaoke 🎤
Ah pah. People are watch dem gas dese days.
If am correct by saying so, the UPP highly believe with the return of Harold Lovell the next election is in the bag hence back in government, so my advice to leader of the opposition, instead of wasting time poppy showing yourself picketing, motorcading, etc that’s not yielding any result, how about getting your party ready to run this country and with that power in hand and in parliament, all inquiries of corruption and wrong doings by this ABLP government will be in your power.
I think their should be protest, but I don’t fancy the way they romanticizing the car and tax payers rip off scandal by adding a suffix “gate” to give it an American sound, it’s like it’s trivialize and made melee when it’s serious, how can we look at a president Nixon 1972 era affair as contextual to Antigua and Barbuda ?
We are in a different situation where there is theft of public funds with either the finance minister allowing it and only become reactionary for purposes of maintaining the top position as prime minister while he hold a leash over his subordinates necks.
I am calling on the blocks around Antigua, where young men spend idle time because of the socioeconomic condition of the country, they are educated but has not seen the way to just subject themselves generations after generations in the service industry that is foisted upon them as gardeners or maids in hotels for extractive wealth for a few rich crazy white baldhead, the young people want to chase them crazy baldhead and politicians who are puppet of corruption out of town. This is your chance to get up off the block and walk as a million man march and chant down Babylon politicians that have you in this predicament of frustration where smoking creates a benign atmosphere that is an illusion and no accomplishment, you are the future young men, get up and chant down these political Babylon even if your pants is dropping down, because you will usher in a future where you will wear fine linning one day, get up and stand up for your right, stand up for Antigua and Barbuda.
We are so damn brainwashed here in Antigua.
I’m reading some of the negative comments about the oppositions concerns in regards to the fraudulent vehicle procurement acquisitions.
This isn’t only a concern of the UPP!
We should all be troubled by this conflict of interest; and the whole matter stinks just like St John’s!!!
The world and his dawg continue to laugh at us.
AND I DON’T BLAME THEM…
@ Eldread,
Old man Bird invited in private clubs like the Mill Reef Club and Hotels to take the people out of the fields.
Workers were not getting a livable wage from The Sugar Estates Syndicate.
After 70 years we are still stuck with the same economic model of a tourism economy with ownership by outsiders like The New Syndicate
and the service workers are not getting a livable wage.
We boast of a growing economy with a GDP to boast about. Who are the beneficiaries?
The opposition party has already lost the debate. The public has no clue what the issue is.
There is an issue about vehicles being (????) without authorization.
Something to do with customs and not paying duties.
Supposably rumored some vehicles were returned to a dealer.
After following the news. What is the issue?
Did individuals steal some of the vehicles?
Does the public know how many vehicles are in question?
Does the public know the whereabout of these vehicles?
What really went down?
This this matter involve many car dealers and who are they?
What are they accused of doing?
The government employees who are culpable and supposedly part of this travesty. What are they accused of doing?
Basic questions the Opposition Party should be asking and uncovering to build momentum and pressure to move towards an independent investigation rather than the cover up that is in full swing.
A March and or a motorcade for an investigation is just amateurish.
Not ready for prime time .
