The United Progressive Party has notified the Governor General that they plan to hold a picket outside his office from Tuesday to Friday.
Their objective is to express their dissatisfaction with what they perceive as a lack of progress regarding the calls for a Public Inquiry into Antigua Airways.
Attorney Leon ‘Chaku’ Symister, the UPP’s Spokesperson for Legal Affairs, stated that the picket is just one of the many actions the party intends to take to continue advocating for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry.
Two weeks ago, the UPP delivered a petition, signed by several thousand residents, to Governor General Sir Rodney Williams, urging him to initiate a Public Inquiry into Antigua Airways, which has been embroiled in controversy since its arrival in Antigua last November.
The government responded by stating that only the Cabinet has the authority to commission an inquiry, as advised by two legal experts.

The ABLP will certainly – and wilfully – ignore the UPP’S overtures for the wotless Governor General to call for an independent investigation or enquiry – he’s obviously compromised.

The government has not provided the nation with any tangible explanation regarding the defunct Antigua Airways.
The GG hasn’t listened to the voice of the nation whilst the good name of our nation continued to be a reproach locally, nationally and internationally.
Hopefully, picketing the official residence of the GG will signal a clear message that our voices must be listened to.
The nation was told that UN did an investigation, but we have not seen or hard the outcomes from their investigation, if indeed one was carried out.
Also, the broken Immigration Services have not updated the nation on the number of Africans remaining in Antigua.
What’s the voice of the nation? 8500 signatures doesn’t even represent 10% of the population. Also, the only National reproach is from people like you who thinks they are making an impact outside your little bubble.

It seems to me that scale of the pucketting is in sufficient to force change.
Perhaps injunctions could assist in a plan to force change.
What about filling Affidavits before the cour to force accountability.
Picketing and marches works for the ABLP because they have a very committed RENT a base. UPP do not have the financial backative to bring out their RENT a base…..

What a BIG joke. UPP never had success with picket. Ten persons picketing would be a joke. UPP should concentrate on getting proper Leadership and get rid of those DUMB UPP members in Parliament and Senate.
We have accused the Bandits of Human Smuggling, Lying, Theft and even Fraud and it’s quite ok with them. All of a sudden, the King of Suit is not making any threats to suit anyone; he and the others don’t want to have their names cleared so they are resisting any attempt to come clean but we, the citizens and residents of Antigua and Barbuda want our names cleared. If you are so convinced that everything was above board and you have nothing to hide, then do the right thing. Remember that you are the most ‘CHANSPARENT’ government so lead from the front.
