In a recent outpouring of frustration, a long-time supporter of the United Progressive Party (UPP) has voiced strong criticisms regarding Harold Lovell, the former leader of the party.

The supporter expressed disbelief and disappointment upon learning that Lovell, who is currently residing in Canada and working as a professor, is expected to contest the upcoming election for the constituency of All Saints West.

The supporter reminisced about Hon. Anthony Smith, a former member of the UPP and current Member of Parliament in that constituency. “Anthony Smith was always someone I admired in his time at the UPP,” they said.

“I thought he was the future leader of the party. It broke our hearts when he left us, but he remains humble and hardworking in his constituency.

It’s clear he still has the love and support of many constituents.”

In contrast, the supporter criticized the UPP’s recent choice to back Barbara Coates to contest the seat, suggesting she was not the right candidate.

“They rightfully asked her to step aside for Harold Lovell, but I wonder where is Harold now? He came out strongly at first, then disappeared.

Only to find out he’s living his best life in Canada as a professor. How can he expect to represent and serve the people of All Saints West from overseas?”

This supporter also echoed concerns about consistency within the party, recalling that the UPP had previously criticized
Michael Browne for living overseas while serving as a representative.

“If they criticized Browne for that, how can they justify Harold’s situation now? It doesn’t make any sense,” they lamented.

The criticism extends beyond Lovell’s absence from the constituency.

The supporter expressed deep frustration with what they perceive as ongoing dysfunction within the UPP.

“Harold is now trying to challenge Pringle for the party leadership while living abroad and stepping down from leadership roles three times. It just shows how unstable and disorganized the party has become,” they said.

This dissatisfaction reflects a broader concern among some members and supporters who believe the party’s focus should be on genuine leadership and commitment to the country, rather than political maneuvering or personal ambitions.

“I love my country, and I want the best for it. Right now, I don’t see the UPP as the party that can lead us forward.

We need real leaders who are present, dedicated, and ready to serve, not just political figures living overseas,” they concluded.

  1. I keep wondering if these ghost writers from ALP think all Antiguans are stupid, you can smell the red cool aid when this was being typed.
What next are you all going to try. Waiting now to hear from Antigua’s number one Ass Licker Faithful National #1. You know how Lovell gets under his skin

  2. Dear UPP Supporter,
If you want to support Anthony Smith, it is your right. Why write about questioning Harold’s commitment to the UPP? What else must Mr Lovell do, shed his blood, peel his skin for UPP while Judas smile, get fat and sit in the lap of luxury while lying to all of you? Ah u sick tummuck!

  3. If I’m man enough to criticize someone for something that they’re doing and I don’t approve or agree with, I should be man enough to put my name on my words…

  4. Stop it!
    ANR knows.
    I know.
    You know.
It is t any UPP supporter questioning Lovell’s committmemt.to the constituency.
We all know that it is a laboRAT who is scared of losing his/her cut under the table.
The person doesn’t want to be moved from the green pasture.
Each, every, and all UPP supporters are solidly lined up behind Lovell.
He has the support of everyone.
    So, laboRAT, sorry for you.
You have to cinte d with him from.now until the NEXT parliamentary term which will be in 2033.
So get your coffee or bush tea and have a seat at the table.

  5. The man just came back not even two months now, and all hell break loose.

Relax you Gatsonites, this is not 1995 where communications were still done via writing a letter or an expensive phone call. You ever heard of Facetime, zoom, or Skype?

There are many supporters of each party that’s living abroad, even those who works for this current administration and the opposition. Are they not effective because they are not in Antigua?

  6. Everybody else knows that this failed politician has no interest in the constituency he has been assigned to “represent”. He just wants to “get in”, having failed so miserably in the past. He, at his age, wants to go out in a blaze of glory, something for the history books to record. But he doesn’t have to put himself or the people of All Saints West through this embarrassing farce. Of course when the political history of Antigua and Barbuda is writ, his name along with all his failures will be right there alongside him, including a picture of his aging face following his inevitable defeat in the upcoming General Elections. He, like many in his camp obviously think that “blow ah tonic”. Silly rabbit!

  7. You a whan liard, you are a Gaston marionette set up to create balkanization in the party, but good going for us black people, because all these fight against each other is assuring the 1 percenters Caucasian and Syrian and Portuguese like max Fernandez that their future is prosperous over the black slaves that shredded blood sweat and tears for this land, you will always get shiny things from the politicians given to him by the 1 percenters to keep you in poverty and semiliterate socially and economically, these are temporary, never at the seat of resources that equate to power and human dignity of the black African.

  8. @Islanman26, the Most Honourable Harold Lovell is disturbing and discombobulating their minds. I absolutely love this!

The Gastonites, ABLP sycophants and acolytes are losing the plot big time. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

I’m just sitting back and enjoying their implosions boss.

I’ve never witnessed the return of one man causing such angst amongst them. Have you?

  9. Writer you are spot on! Lovell does NOT EVEN LIVE IN ALL SAINTS WEST! This man WRECKED, RAVAGED, RAPED and PLUNGED OUR ECONOMY under the WICKED “SUNSHINE GOVERNMENT”. Never again must he be allowed anywhere near our country. Let him keep his ass up there in Canada picking apples in meriKKKa’s sewage outlet backyard.

  10. All these noise and questions about the Lovell man, as a matter of fact this one name seems to be the biggest thing UPP have going into election, but by the time election comes around Lovell will be nowhere to be seen.

    • The BIGGEST LOSER!!! Limpy Joe has LOST MORE ELECTIONS THAN HE WAS WON. The WORST tarckrecord in the region….. perhaps the world!

  11. @Brix.

Not even Shuggy who we thought was a big deal when he won his seat, had this kind of sound effect coming from these loud mouth ABLP supporters. 😂

What a ting .yep, I’m loving it..they just can’t help themselves.. 🤣. But then again it could be Gatson Browne replying under all these different Monika’s, because the man is scared of Lovell, that’s why he transferred those 6 votes. Can you imagine if Lovell had won his seat and sitting in parliament on a daily basis?

That’s what they don’t want, so they are out for the man’s blood. 😂
