UPP Reminds PM Browne of Unmet Pensions Promise as March Deadline Passes

REAL NEWS – The United Progressive Party (UPP) is calling on Prime Minister Gaston Browne to fulfill his election promise of an increase in pensions.

During the recent General Election campaign, Browne – the minister of finance – had promised that his administration would award such an increase.

However, six months have passed since the January 18 polls, and there has been no word on the pension hike, prompting a reminder from Damani Tabor, the UPP public relations officer, who notes the pensioners’ struggle with the high cost of living.

The deadline for the increase – which should have taken effect in March – has long passed, Tabor notes.

President of the Antigua and Barbuda Pensioners Association Evans Bennett is hoping that the promised increase will be implemented shortly.

In July, he spoke with State television on the matter, saying the association had been in negotiations for such an increase for pensioners and noting that consultations with the Ministry of Finance had begun since 2019.

However, in spite of the prime minister’s promise, he says that those consultations are yet to be finalized.

  1. Who really believes things politician say in this modern era. Havent you folks of voting age lived long enough to not buy these promises?

  2. Yet, another one of Gaston Browne’s election pledges broken; and remember paying them on time was one of his run-up gimmicks to January 18th. Pure out and out evil.

    DEVIL INCARNATE …

Oh, by the way my fellow Antiguans, have any of you seen the photo doing the rounds – at present – of the Prime Minister 🥸 wearing a royal 👑 crown with the caption “King Liard” written on it?

A brilliant meme that captures Gassssston perfectly!

Try and locate it from either your friends, family or associates … it’s absolutely hilarious, but also paints a picture of this current clown in chief!

    • You can’t beat Antiguans for their brilliant sense of humour, accept for the likes of @ From The Sideline and Tenman 😂😂😂
