UPP Organizes Series of Events for St. Mary’s South By-election in Support of Shugy Simon

REAL NEWS:

The United Progressive Party (UPP) is poised to roll out a number of public events as it prepares for a by-election in St. Mary’s South in less than 100 days.

While the first such event – a mobilization/walk-through – had been set for this afternoon, Thursday, June 29, organizers have announced a postponement because of the unstable weather conditions across the island.

However, on Saturday, July 1, the UPP’s “Small Business Pull-up” will make its return to the constituency. Patrons are asked to gather at 2 p.m. at the Urlings Primary School, the move-off point.

Then, on Monday, July 3, Party members and supporters are encouraged to turn out at the High Court of Justice in solidarity with Kelvin “Shugy ” Simon, the UPP candidate for St. Mary’s South, as the matter concerning his election to Parliament gets underway.

Simon’s election is being challenged by an Antigua Labour Party (ALP) supporter, who, among other things, is asking the Court to declare the ALP candidate, Samantha Marshall, the winner of the January 18 election, since she amassed the second-highest number of votes.

The claimant charges that Simon had not resigned from the public service before he was nominated as a candidate.

Meanwhile, to rally its base in the St. Mary’s South constituency, the Party will host a public rally at the Bolans Play Field on Thursday, July 6, at 7 p.m.

The UPP says it is looking forward to the full participation of supporters at all at these events.

  1. “… Simon’s election is being challenged by an Antigua Labour Party (ALP) supporter …”

I bet you any money it is either @ tenman, Curious or From The Sideline behind this POINTLESS challenge to Shuggy 😉

    • @Brix- You really in a joking mood today. Let me help you- I live (registered)in rural north hence I don’t think I would have standing (not registered in that constituency) to make such a challenge. Its common knowledge (in the actual filing) the challenger is Casworth Aaron

  2. All UPP can do to encourage vote is to buy two beers, two popcorn and Franz will beg two BBQ chicken rather than buy. You all notice the play book. After the elections I had asked what has become of the small business pullup. Lo and behold a bi-election is on the cards and booooom there is small business pull up.

    • Samantha and her team went into Urlings last week to buy out all the shops. The community say it was a “small business pull down.”

I thought Gaston said there would be no by- election because Shugy’s resignation was illegal? Ah you dey really mix up.

  3. Their very own bozo the clown. The weeping and gnashing of teeth will continue for this modern day foolish (no oil aka did not resign on time )bride.

  4. Let’s go Shugy. Let’s send Samantha into retirement. Maybe she will work on her fitness and add years to her life.

    • @..the crook – Watch you chat rubbish so let me join. Going on a group ride (cycling) this Saturday though Marshall’s constituency. Samantha, will be joining us.

      • What you and Samantha cooking up? Wha ah you ah plan? Crash the Pull Up again? Will lightning strike twice? In any case, Samantha will be beaten twice. I repeat, Second beating will send her into retirement.

  5. This is an insult to enlightened people. This pull up thing is likened to the government fixing roads just before election then down tools the day before election.

Still waiting for the promised second pull up on St George and All saints and city west.

    • Before you fight up the government to make sure they pick the garbage and make sure we get water in our pipe, you are concerned about UPP Small Biz Pull Up? Get a life!!

      • Dear Mr Crook
It is always wise to stay on topic rather introducing new information and deliberately distort the perceived conversation.

Be reminded that for us to have a meaningful discourse, we must all be speaking about the same thing.

As previously mentioned the UPP pull up is officially an election gimmick since there is no continuance of such a WONDERFUL program outside of an election cycle..

  6. Ps Mr Crook the UPP and the ABLP appears to be using the the same book of tricks to con the electors into voting blindly.

This is not in the interest of an informed electorate. If the nation is to improve, we require more creative leadership that does not require trickery and gimmickry

  7. Are you incapable of dealing with multiple issues at one time? Sad, we live in a multidimensional world!

    • Dear Mr Crook
This is precisely why the UPP has poor showings for their protests and marches, rather than focus on one issue, they lump several together and the most important issue gets lost in the messages.

The brain is incapable of doing more than one thing at the same .time. multitasking is impossible. State on point in the future…
