UPP Motorcade Set For 10 A.M. Today
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — The United Progressive Party’s island-wide motorcade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 16, at Rising Sun Field, as the opposition renews its call for an independent investigation into what it has labeled the “Vehicle-Gate” scandal.
The motorcade, which the party says is a peaceful protest, is intended to rally public support for a probe into alleged wrongdoing within the Ministry of Public Works. UPP officials argue that only an external investigation can address what they claim is a multi-million-dollar conspiracy.
Today’s demonstration follows a series of denied event approvals earlier in the week, when police refused permission for a planned whistle-stop and an islandwide motorcade on Nov. 9. The party says it was later informed that the Nov. 16 date would be permitted.
The UPP has urged supporters and the wider public to participate as the procession prepares to depart this morning.

Any free gas a share?
Any rental up for grabs?
Is there organized transport for each constituency?
An independent investigation is a must!
As I’ve mentioned since this fraudulent vehicle procurement acquisitions story broke. This isn’t really about the UPP’S motorcade, this is something the whole of the country should want whatever your political affiliation.
Look at the plethora of issues the citizens of Antigua & Barbuda want investigations into:
There’s YIDA, CIP and NAMCO. Also do not forget about the farcical behaviour with the Alpha Nero super yacht and the African airline fiasco; the missing Hurricane Irma donation; the former ALP member the Governor General refusing to hold this government to account on behalf of the citizens; and yes, how can I forget Richard Lewis’ Freedom of Information Request on alleged government rental links with a family member.
The lists goes on and on ad infinitum.
Yes, Antiguans are way outnumbered today by ABLP passport – voting – non nationals, but whether one indigenous person or a handful turn up, this government must be sent a strong message.
ABLP love our lethargy. Fact!
