UPP Leadership and Executive Denounce Cabinet’s Statements about Lovell as Deliberate and Malicious Lies

PRESS RELEASE FROM UNITED PROGRESSIVE PARTY

The Leadership and Executive Committee of the United Progressive Party (UPP) denounce the Cabinet for its deliberate and malicious attempt to vilify Harold Lovell, Political Leader, and sow further division among the population.

 

We cry shame on Cabinet Chairman Gaston Browne, Cabinet Members, the Minister of Information, and the Chief of Staff under whose responsibilities the Cabinet Notes fall for stooping so low and trying to put the people at odds with the medical fraternity at this critical time in the Nation’s life.

 

In an Observer Radio outing on Wednesday, September 29, Mr. Lovell was at pains to congratulate and express appreciation to the caregivers at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for their heroic efforts to save the health and lives of COVID-19 victims.

 

Like any responsible leader, he also expressed the Nation’s alarm at the high mortality rate among virus patients, which, as of September 27, was 2.4% —

second only to that of Grenada at 2.6% — and significantly higher than our OECS neighbours’ and that of Barbados.  These statistics are factual.

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Lovell recommended that the authorities look into the causes for our death rate, and even considered several reasons for it being so high.  Among these were the possibility that COVID-19 victims are waiting too long to present themselves for treatment at the hospital.

 

He further recommended that – in addition to the public-vaccination drive, which he and the Party have vigorously supported – the Health authorities should make rapid testing available for FREE.

 

Lovell acknowledged that rapid tests are not the final determinant of one’s COVID-19 status; however, he pointed out that early detection would alert persons who are either asymptomatic or in the early stages of the disease, so they could seek treatment in a timely manner and reduce the spread among the population.

 

The UPP therefore advises the Cabinet to spend its time and resources in a more constructive manner that will actually benefit the people, rather than engage in the blatant lies and rumour-mongering that now characterize its Administration.

 

Meanwhile, the Leadership and Executive commiserate with the bereaved families and, indeed, with all COVID-19 victims, and we strongly urge all residents who are medically cleared to avail themselves of the opportunity to be inoculated.

        The elitist and vindictive ideology has got to stop! That will not happen as long as the likes of Gisele “lipstick hag” Isaac is still in charge. A party with a “leader” with the most dismal track record regionally and globally. Lovell has LOST MORE elections than he has won. He is like a bruised battered and shipwrecked mangy dog waiting to die but walks around looking for food scraps.

  3. Of all the LIES that the Cabinet has told in the past this one is the most blatant and malicious. What I really do not understand, they know the recording of Lovell’s statement is there yet still they promulgate such a LIE at the Cabinet level. If this was something said at a political meeting you could dismiss it as pure politicking, but my lord in CABINET.

  4. JUST SAYING please ask Gaston about his “dog inna morgue” song since it perhaps describe our present situation. Vaccinated or unvaccinated it is inexplicable the covid related death rate in Antigua. I have stated before that the policy of having people who are covid positive sent home to quarantine or isolate and not monitored regularly is helping to contribute to the death rate since admission to the hospital is usually too late. The CMO Dr. Rhonda Sealy-Thomas has admitted as much.

Their instant reaction is to lie first, then lie again and again thereafter even when the lies do not add up. I heard Mr. Harold Lovell and at no time did he make such a statement as per Cabinet. The concern of the ABLP administration should be their blunder and absolute failure to manage the affairs of the people and country they were trusted to represent and lead. Mr. Lovell has always supported and praised the hard work of the dedicated doctors and nurses and staff of the hospital as well as first responders and Frontline workers as a whole. PM Gaston Brown could do well with a lesson in tact, class, and leadership from The United Progressive Party leader Mr. Harold Lovell.

I tried to assist Janice Samuel since I felt sorry for her and no one from her group of friends and associates came forward to help. Your weird notion therefore that she was assisted by me because of some sexual involvement is the JOKE of the CENTURY.

It is very apparent that either the health authorities have given up on treatment of Covid patients or the belief that if more people see a rise in death, they will commit to taking the vaccine. Well Gaston persons are willing to gamble their jobs and lives than taking your commands. LOCK DUNG DE DAMN PLACE QND GET THE COVID UNDER CONTROL. NOBODY CAN DIE OF HUNGER WITHIN 30 DAYS.   10. Antigua missing a legit opposition. Lovell is not presenting as a competent leader. So…Gaston carries on unabated. No threat of being dethroned because there is no competition in an election.
