UPP Group Makes Another Court Appearance on Laurys Bay Trespassing Charge
A group of United Progressive Party (UPP) members, including community activist George Wehner, has made another court appearance in connection with a trespassing charge over access to Laurys Bay.
The case, which centres on allegations of trespassing at the traditional public access point to the bay, was adjourned after the prosecution again failed to comply with a previous court order to provide disclosure to the defence.
Wehner said the Director of Public Prosecutions took charge of the case during Tuesday’s hearing and gave an undertaking to the Magistrate that the defendants’ legal team would receive the required documents.
The matter has been rescheduled for Thursday, 25 September 2025.
Public access to Laurys Bay has been the subject of a long-running dispute, with campaigners insisting the right of entry must be maintained.

This whole issue is about ALL Antiguan citizens being able to have public access to Laury’s Bay. Why denigrate the UPP group for acting on our behalf, whatever your political colours or persuasion ?
This is why Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬 cannot move ahead with so much backward thinking. No wonder progress seems one step forward and ten backwards.
No wonder these hotel and rich business lobbyists can call the shots and do what dem like in regards to beach access and bending the ears of our greedy politicians.
Was Pringle, Harold, Shugy, Serpent, Shawn and Gisele Isaac there. As far as I know Richard Lewis is off island.
So this Unruly Pack of Punks decides to trespass on private property, break the laws by which all civilized humans live, doing so on “our” behalf and therefore that makes it all legit! What asinine logic straight from the Brixtonian pea-brain. He/She needs to go back into hibernation!
