(PRESS RELEASE)
It is regrettable and deplorable that the Minister of Public Safety and Attorney General the Honourable Steadroy Benjamin would make not only spurious allegations, but reckless statements about the main Opposition Party being behind the recent bomb threats.
It is just as regrettable that the media who hold the responsibility for the dissemination of credible information should have repeated such libel. By his own admission, Mr Benjamin has no evidence whatsoever as to who might have committed the act.
The Police have made no statement ascribing guilt or blame to anyone. Yet, Mr. Benjamin has recklessly gone on record to make a claim he cannot substantiate.
The UPP categorically denies any involvement in this or any similar incident at any time.
We are a responsible Party concerned about the safety of all citizens, the fragility of the tourism industry and economy and the well-being of Antigua and Barbuda at large.
The UPP also condemns the desperate attempt by Minister Benjamin to bring the UPP into disrepute and to excuse his own shortcomings as the Minister of Public Safety in this time of growing public insecurity and mounting fear among the citizenry of Antigua and Barbuda.

Reckless indeed! Christmas should be a time when our leaders try to bring the country together, not to incite diviseness. This government studies Trump. Yesterday every body came down on them for being tight lipped about the Michael Browne scandal. So I believe this statement was designed as FAKE NEWS to change the narrative and shift the focus. But we are not amused! Be careful what you ask for. Don’t call wolf of wolf na send call you!
I don’t understand the trump comment
News is only fake if it’s from CNN or MSNBC.
You don’t understand the Trump comment? You’re really not up to date with events.
They study Maduro and Castro as well. Just now the people will have no say.
