The United Progressive Party (UPP) has announced an extraordinary virtual public rally scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2026, beginning at 7:30 p.m., focusing on recent developments surrounding U.S. visa bond requirements.
According to promotional material released by the opposition party, the discussion will examine issues ranging from what it describes as a “$15 million vehicle gate” controversy to the imposition of a US$15,000 visa bond. The event is being framed as a broader conversation on Antigua and Barbuda’s international standing.
The UPP says the rally will also address concerns about governance and foreign relations under the administration of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, arguing that current policies have negatively affected the country’s global image.
The virtual event will be streamed live on the party’s online platforms, including its Progressive Radio channel and the “MyUPP” Facebook page, allowing supporters and members of the public to participate remotely.
The United Progressive Party is the country’s main opposition and has been using online forums and virtual meetings to engage the public on national issues ahead of upcoming political activities.

The UPP has to go that route because the wicked ABLP through their instructions to the police have not been given permission to hold public meetings for the past months because the A-ntigua B-barbuda L-iar P-arty (ABLP) is so scared of the impact their actions have had on the populace and the country.
@Eldread I am a common citizen and neither an ALP Minister or fanatic. We must be objective. The UPP is the major Opposition Party who wants to be in government and it cannot mobilize people around a big issue such as the Visa one that so many people are upset about. It was the same thing with the increase in vehicle licensing fees. Something is lacking with the UPP as an Opposition. They lack energy. An Opposition takes the fight to the government and the UPP fails to do that. On any major issue you hear the Leader of the Opposition one week and then he goes silent for the next two weeks. That is their patter and it reflects badly on them.

@really: I respectfully concur with you, the upp has leaved some people disenchanted due to the leadership experiment route the internal party officials prefers, because it clearly demotivated the supporters and onlookers, then Mr Lovell is the best hope of experience that UPP have, but he is not of a militant political ideology that will take actions as bombastic as the Gaston ALP would have taken, he is beholden to the ethics of the judicial system in which he participate in. And trust me, this era of people who has become accustomed to the Baldwin Spencer, the wilmuoth Daniel, brother Baptiste and George Walter and especially the Tim Hector influence on educating people issues of governance in Antigua and the wider Caribbean has become alienated by a Pringle experiment today , that doesn’t have that institutional and historical context to inspire people today, not even Gaston brown possess such abilities, he has to instead turn to fete and concerts to consolidate his base and be liberal on marijuana issues and the gay community if you notice he associates closely with a particular figure, along with largesse to civil servants and police and judiciary rendering them as his lackeys in a full state capture, right now Lovell had to emerge as the leader followed by lewis as his deputy,.Pringle should show humility and surrender the leadership of the UPP as he is now humble on the world stage where events transcends his abilities and capacity, a more studious person on history and politics and other affairs is needed now that can adapt to the situation at hand even impulsively but with smart polemics as the events are dynamic.
Gaston possesses none of this, so that’s why he hides behind concerts each year and call quick elections along with largesse to win elections, Gaston cannot sit and speak on no historical issue of Antigua and the Caribbean, he doesn’t have any ideology, he is just an opportunist after money. The way he recklessly took Barbuda lands by gun point to sell to rich white people as he himself said he could sniff them out in a dog manner as he refers to himself after hurricane Irma suffering shows a heartless creature that lack ideology but appreciate white supervision that validates him.
