UPP and ‘Fed-Up Citizens’ Organize Protest Against High Cost of Living and Lack of Accountability

St. John’s, Antigua – The United Progressive Party (UPP) and a group calling themselves “Fed-Up Citizens” are set to stage an “Action Freedom March” on Thursday, March 13, 2025, in protest against issues they say are plaguing the country.

The march, spearheaded by figures identified as “The Conqueror & The Wolf,” will focus on concerns including the high cost of living, unsolved crimes and disappearances, lack of accountability, and lack of transparency.

Participants are scheduled to assemble outside PDO at 4:30 p.m. before proceeding towards Market Street.

The protest comes amid growing discontent among segments of the population who argue that the current administration has failed to address economic challenges and governance issues. The organizers have declared that “De Whole Country Fed Up!”, signaling widespread frustration.

More details on the expected turnout and any responses from government officials are anticipated in the coming days.

  1. We need as Antiguans to close down this country until they remove that new tax, time to get really serious with this DOG 🐕

  2. ” Lack of Accountability you say” ???

#SHUGY reach back from Trinidad carnival yet??

  3. Linking the 2 together guarantees failure and makes this political. Cost of living is due to the fact that we import everything including the inflation and other economic factors. Cost of living is skyrocketing all over the world. And Trump’s tariffs will make it worse since most of what we import is from the US. If you want to reduce cost of living then change your life style. Change what you eat, how much you spend on hair and nails, on alcohol and partying. On gas for driving with now aim. Etc. Etc.

  4. @Truth Seeker. You are correct! Also, we are a nation that does not want to pay any taxes. Everything must be on the back of the government. We need to get away from this mindset. We complain about expense, but we need to remember, we are not a country that exports anything. In my humble opinion, I think we are spoiled. It’s ok to pay another man’s taxes, but when it comes to our own, we don’t want to pay one red cent. Life goes on!

  5. UPP and its leader jammarl Pringle as clueless as it gets. Pringle say “not one red cent”
so how he expect anything fu get done??? It cost EC$800.00 to license a Toyota Vitz in St. Vincent

Antiguans have it nice, nice and like to complain. They want champagne to drink, but pay Koolaid prices for the champagne

  6. The Opposition is only making noise to fool the people. You folks think it’s Antigua and Barbuda alone in this situation?
It’s high time we all wake, my sleeping country. Wa all allow politicians to fool us, and given the fact that this new age of technology the people are still not reading? This is a world crisis so stop pointing fingers at the government. None of the governments can’t stop this. Look at the great USA. They have the same problems and guess what, we import from them.

  7. Who is really spearheading this march. First it was concerned citizens the WOLF AND THE CONQUEROR i.e., Vere Bird III and William ZiZi Thomas. Now, with all the criticisms that were levelled against the UPP the only Opposition Party in Antigua, the Party has now back peddled and seems to be at the helm of the march. It is now the UPP and Fed Up Citizens having the march. My word to the UPP is that just how they went about getting involved in this march make them look WEAK and LEADERLESS. The Party must be at the helm of any protest action and not walking behind any Fed Up Citizens. Where is Baldwin Spencer, Harold Lovell and Chaku to help Jamal Pringle and the leadership of the UPP to lead from the front and show some strength as the only opposition political in Antigua. UPP you were the first out of the block criticizing the increase in vehicle licensing fees and you should therefore be leading the protest against the increase. YOU DROPPED THE BALL BIG TIME. Please get your act together moving forward.

  8. Well lets see.

Move somewhere in the world where you think the cost of living is not high and tell me how that works out for you.
