Two Hispanic men, Leandro Payano (25) and Javier Alcantara (32), are fighting for their lives at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center after being electrocuted while cleaning the south side of the administrative building at the port.

Darwin Telemaque, General Manager of the Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority, reported that the men, employed by a cleaning company, were moving a scaffold, which rolled and hit a high-tension APUA wire, causing the electrocution.

They sustained severe burns and injuries.

Medical officials are working to stabilize them. Numerous members of the Spanish community are at the hospital.

  1. Is this the same Telemaque that was elected as head of PMAC yet he can’t guarantee the safety of direct and indirect staff at the port? Is it the same persons or is it he is only concerned about lining his pockets with his tug boats.
