Three Urlings Fishermen Missing at Sea

Search efforts are underway after three fishermen from the coastal village of Urlings failed to return from a fishing trip earlier this week.

Relatives say the men left the Urlings area sometime after 7 p.m. on Wednesday aboard a white fishing vessel with a cabin identified as FAITH P, registration V2090UL.

According to updated information from a family member, one of the fishermen contacted relatives early Thursday morning and said he would be returning. However, attempts to reach him afterward were unsuccessful, with the phone reportedly out of range or turned off.

The missing men have been identified as Calton Pitt, the owner of the vessel, Devon Prince, also known as “Greecegun,” and Ivan Pryce, known as “Puskey.”

The Antigua and Barbuda Coast Guard has begun a search operation, while fishermen from the Urlings fishing station have also joined the effort to locate the vessel.

Images circulating on social media show the boat believed to be associated with the men as family members and residents continue to appeal for information.

Anyone with information that could assist in locating the fishermen is asked to contact 774-0820 or 728-5884.

  1. Is that the highest or best level of journalism that we have in Antigua?
If this portal wants to remain relevant in the political arena, do so.
Stop posing as a media entity.
Your work brings more embarrassment both to the profession and to Antigua and Barbuda than putting us in a positive and educated light.
You have penned a long article on the disappearance of three fisher folks.
You have told us for how long they have not been heard from.
You have listed contact information for relatives.
    RELATIVES OF WHO????
Itheir identity even at this moment a safely guarded secret?
This is what i call bottom of the barrel journalism.
The principals of this portal, if they have a molecule of common sense, must be deeply embarrassed at this level of journalism.
A student at the Golden Grove Primary School would expose the incompetence of those associated with this portal.

  2. As is the case with every single report about missing fishermen, we never hear where the people normally fish, or if anyone knows where they were going or any other info that could help find them. There’s so many yachts and other vessels out there and helicopters and planes…. Just give us a clue of where they would have been.

  3. Can an update be the very same story, word for word, that was first issued?
An update would normally carry some bit of further information on the subject matter of the first or any previous reporting. This reads like a cut and paste of the same story.

  4. Wow!!!!
    Where is the journalistic integrity?
This portal continues to be downright disengenious.
I made a critique of the poor, uneducated and unprofessional reporting in this story.
It was published without the names nor pictures of the missing fishermen.
ANR chose to make those who comment including me look like fools.
They have produced an update to the story.
However the update is not a different article.
It is the same article corrected.
    How is that an update?
In their bid to make readers and commenter look foolish ANR has made itself the mother of deception and dishonesty.
When readers read the comment though they will see that the story lacked substance before the so called update.

  5. I’m tired of reading these stories. This seems to be happening too often. Who knows if there are bad actors within our waters bringing our people harm, but fisherfolk need to be trained on safer fishing practices and boating just in case.
Additionally, the waters have been rough recently. It’s not worth your life.

  6. @Tired..How you know our fisherfolks are not the bad actors…guess its like a mom who never sees her son as a bad boy.

  7. Please call the cell phone company that the call came from (ie the fisherman) they can ping the call and say the direction the call came from. From that you can determine the area to search.

  8. @Straight Shooter, more like Straight Shitter. Is someone forcing you to read the stories on this website against your will? Is a gun being placed against your head in order to make you read this website? No? Then feel free to fuck off and get your local news from someone else you whiny little bitch. Always complaining, always crying. Toughen up you miserable turd.
