The Caribbean islands, including Antigua and Barbuda, are on high alert as amplified heat stress looms over the next three months.
The Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF) warns that elevated temperatures, increased humidity, and more frequent heatwaves will result from unusually warm Pacific and Atlantic Ocean temperatures.
Flash floods and cascading hazards are expected to rise in August, with rainfall likely to be normal or higher in several countries.
Areas most affected include the ABC Islands, The Bahamas, the Greater Antilles, the eastern Guianas, and the Leeward Islands.
Belize and Trinidad and Tobago can expect typical rainfall.
Preparation and resilience are crucial during this challenging period in the Caribbean.
