A concerned resident is sounding the alarm over an unmarked shipping container left on the roadside along the route to Shirley’s Heights, warning that the obstruction is a “fatal accident waiting to happen.”
According to the citizen, the container has been parked for several days on Rotten Town Road, also known as Charlotte Gilbert Drive, without any reflectors, lighting, warning cones or safety indicators to alert approaching motorists—especially at night.
“This container parked on the way to Shirley’s Heights is going to result in the death(s) of someone,” the resident warned, describing the placement as extremely dangerous on a road frequented by locals, tourists, and late-night visitors headed to the popular lookout.
Motorists travelling uphill or downhill in low-light conditions are said to be at particular risk, with the container blending into the darkness and positioned close to the driving lane.

The citizen is urgently calling for authorities to remove the container or outfit it with proper safety reflectors before tragedy strikes.
Residents in the area are urging the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, police and public works officials to intervene swiftly, noting that the road sees heavy traffic, including tour buses, service vehicles and residents heading home at night.
Photos supplied to ANR show the container sitting directly on the roadside with no visible warning devices.
Anyone with information on the container’s owner or placement is encouraged to contact authorities so immediate corrective action can be taken.

This place is lawless .. if you trace back who owns it, you would be surprised. “Well connected “. And guess what if someone dies from crashing into it they would say the person was speeding… how about the guy on fry’s hill road right before the turn unto cedar valley road, they have cars parked all over and most of the times over the white lines, absolutely no wiggle room, it’s to my understanding that person is well connected too… Antigua where we have the bus stops with the broken glass on the floor and on the bench where the people have to sit while waiting for the bus, you think they care .. how short cited are we … how about the CIP program and we have one of the worst infrastructures, a hospital that is lacking so many needed equipment and the ability to have the machine working at all time … who really going to invest in this country only people who need a passport to move on somewhere else and when they get sick they have to fly out on air ambulance… are we so dumb and blinded by gas coming out of gas-tons ass that helps create a smokescreen.. .. let’s be real this is a lawless country where the law only applies to some..
@Hail Hitler 🥸 very well highlighted and very much on point. Bravo … 👏🏾
@ Hail Hitler 🫡,
You may have missed all the things the Vice Chancellor of UWI Five Islands write in ANR two days ago applauding the the Budget Speech even before it was presented.
We are a Country where even the national motto is meaningless. “Each endeavoring all achieving is only for the well connected and the Nepo babies.
The question of the day: Who is the worst as far as Antiguans and Barbudans are concerned of two men who shares many characteristics: Trump or Gaston Browne?
Dear owner,
I’m offering to take this container off your hands and relocate it.
