Unemployment situation having a negative impact on constituents’ mental health, says St. Mary’s North Candidate

Jonathan Joseph, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Candidate for St. Mary’s North, is expressing deep concern for the number of constituents – especially the youth – who are dealing with mental-health issues on account of unemployment.

Although the employment situation is steadily getting back to normal, as COVID-prevention measures are deployed, many people still remain out of work.

Joseph says he has had to seek the assistance of medical professionals to reach persons whose mental health has been impacted by their economic situation.

Meanwhile, the Candidate says he has made himself available for those who may need assistance not only for their mental health, but in finding employment.

He says that more can be done by the Government to assist the many residents who continue to struggle.

    • Isn’t that what they are supposed to do? He is talking facts, people are being stressed and he is a candidate. So nobody should criticize the government? A-WA-YA-TARL

      • Of course, but Constructive criticism, not “criticizing for criticizing sake” or “oppose for opposing sake”. He is not saying anything new or innovative that had not already been stated by experts in the field of mental health. This has been covered extensively even on ABS and other local media. What does he offer as a SOLUTION???

        • I grad Barry U with an MSW mental health clinical practitioner and I’m in FLUSA but I do have clients in ANU. I think it’s serious and not talked about enough. I don’t do political parties so from what I understand the BS comes from both sides. The closer you get to election the more incredible the stories and promises get but you already know.

    • NO! NO, NO, NO, NO…Government need to make business creation very easy and give incentives for those businesses to hire. You want more people standing on line at the treasury? My answer put 15,000+ new jobs with a new Social Security Metrix to improve the way pensioners get paid. BUT NO MORE over burden the gov. We need to get creative instead of the lazy way out that will never work anyway.
