U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown Scales Back Updates During U.S. Government Shutdown

The U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown has announced it will limit updates on its social media platforms due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.

In a statement, the embassy said its Facebook account will not be updated regularly until full operations resume, except for urgent safety and security alerts.

Despite the lapse in appropriations, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at embassies and consulates overseas will continue “as the situation permits,” the notice said.

The embassy advised the public to visit travel.state.gov for the latest information on consular services and operating status.
