A delegation from the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has visited Antigua and Barbuda to discuss potential investment opportunities aimed at boosting the country’s economic development.
The delegation was hosted by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Karin Sullivan and held meetings with government officials and local business leaders to explore opportunities in key sectors, including infrastructure, supply chain logistics and energy.
The discussions focused on identifying areas where U.S. investment could support economic growth while strengthening partnerships between Antigua and Barbuda and the United States.
According to the U.S. Embassy, the visit forms part of broader efforts to promote regional security and economic stability across the Caribbean and the wider Western Hemisphere.
Officials said expanding investment in critical infrastructure and improving supply chain resilience are key priorities that could help create new business opportunities and strengthen long-term economic development.
The U.S. Embassy added that collaboration with Caribbean partners is intended to support a more secure and prosperous region while reinforcing ties between the United States and its regional neighbours.

Bull shit!!! America only cares about America. They don’t want third world country’s citizens in America. Why should we entertain them here?????
Our leaders need to keep their eyes wide open. Stop selling out our country to people who don’t give a shit about our development or survival. PLEASE STOP!!!!

So Antigua and Barbuda is on the list of undersireables for Nancy Mace but we are desirable for third country deportees and now for ‘investment’ into infrastructure?
Make this make some kind of sense.
The F??? It’s OK …..keep your money!
The US wants to help make life in Antigua and all of the Americas better so that people won’t feel that their only option for a better life is to go to America. Nuttin wrong wi dat!
Here we go again with all these dunce comments.
The same sentiments GB showed to the US when they came last year to negotiate some things. These are the type of divisive language that has us where we are today, no visa, and soon to be no CIP.
But then again, hope the few dunce people doesn’t determine the outcome for the smart ones.
The US is not just one man you dunce bats. There are 350 million people in the US, where there is a favorable pathway for a good relationship, so talking ignorance do not help Antigua.
This sounds promising. This is what the Caribbean needs, more foreign direct investments into non-tourism areas and less aid. After receiving Aid for nearly 50 years most of the Caribbean has nothing to show for it. Hopefully these monies will be invested into local startups and entrepreneurial ventures.
The USA is decades late with initiatives such as these. Just having a conversation would not have driven us in the hands of China. Now that they have seen how much of a strong hold China has on the Caribbean countries because of their Belt and Road Initiative. When last has the USA invested in the Caribbean with either grants or low interest loans. Instead they drive us in the arms of the IMF or the World Bank with their very harsh conditions. And then say we are a failed state. They would do better to invest the monies in Cuba and make friends with them rather then to change them by force.
But I see some of our people blaming our PM for taking a harsh stand against them. When he displays strong leadership. One of not bending over backwards nor forward for no one. Some of us expect him to be a ass kisser like those that once got invited by Trump to his mansion in Mar A Lago and when they reached there they had to sit and wait like little puppies in the back entrance. When I think of that picture I still get so disgusted thinking how my Caribbean Leaders can sink so low, only to get a little favor with the USA. Where is the spirit of Sir Viv when they wanted him to play in South Africa and he refused. Where is the spirit of Papa who called a strike at the sugar factory.
The historic sugar factory strike led by the Antigua Trades & Labour Union (AT&LU) in 1951 began as a three-month dispute among cane cutters and lasted for several more months as a general strike. The workers endured this extended period without pay before management conceded and a 25% wage increase was granted in January 1952. Those are some of the men that showed what the spirit of Antigua and Barbuda was all about. Not like Trevor Walker who said we have no CARDS. So just bend over and tek um in you nennen. Shame on those with that kind of spirit. It’s not Antiguan and Barbudan. We don’t back down for nobody. USA you can keep your VISA if the conditions are to bend over and tek um. We will survive as long as God is on our side.
Subtext, we really don’t care too much about your welfare as demonstrated by our recent visa policies against you, masked in all kinds of unexplainable reasons, but the truth is we really don’t want you guys doing business with China especially if they get their hands on your ports.
@Less.
I take many of your points made here in your post, and I respect them because ultimately your sharing your own experience and history of others, but, and it’s a big but, your rhetoric is doing way more damage than helping.
Again, from a strategic stand point, Antigua cannot benefit in the long run by having “China” as it’s strongest ally in this region..it’s just not sustainable, because their ultimate goal is not freedom and human rights.
As much as we talk about the US and it’s history on black and brown people, the two opposing MO of these two power nations and pollar opposite.
One is at least directed towards human rights and the ultimate freedom of mankind, the other is to conquer with impunity.
The very concept of the freedom of speech doctrine defines that, a policy that you yourself have eluded to as a saving grace for many who speaks freely in Antigua and against your very own government.
Ultimately freedom will win over bondage, and that’s the deciding factor for me, and should be for you also. So yes, the history is definitely against the US, but where are trying go, and where we are trying to get, is the very force multiplayer here, at least for me.
I do not let one man decides that decision for me.
Take your personal experience out of it, then will see the outcome in all this. Solomon never got to set foot in the temple he built, but millions worshipped and served God in that very temple..from what I know, Buddha is the God that the culture of China serves, and for me, that will bare out in the grand scheme of things. So regardless of how you look at Trump, the principles of the founding father of the US, were born from the concept of peace and liberty..
So that’s the foundation I looked at when I look at the big picture..the final result..because trust me, all this will come in a head.
So you want to know what I stand on, then there it is Sir.
Fear mongering the Chinese people who don’t have a history of ever oppressing especially black countries is the US modus of operandi. Antigua and Barbuda and the Peoples Republic of China established diplomatic relationship on January 1, 1983. And the first project China gave Antigua as a grant was the construction of the Big Creek Bridge. I bridge that stand up to this day. Many drive over this bridge daily not even knowing the history. But when they go to the USA they can tell you the name of the bridges like the Golden Gate Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Sunshine Skyway Bridge and many more. They know the American history better then their own. They may as well be American. Since they believe America is Gods Gift to mankind. Well I and many others know better. We have seen the many wars America fought and the many dictators they supported because it was all in their interest. We have also seen the many democratically elected leaders in Africa they have assassinated because they threatened their economic interest.
Patrice Lumumba (1961)
Sylvanus Olympio (1963)
Murtala Muhammed (1976)
William Tolbert (1980)
Thomas Sankara (1987)
Melchior Ndadaye (1993)
Laurent-Désiré Kabila (2001)
Muammar Gaddafi (2011)
And most recently the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei February 28, 2026
And believe me they have their eyes and guns set on taking out the Burkina Faso is Captain Ibrahim Traoré. All because he is challenging their economic authority.
Henry Kissinger one said, “To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal”. This coming from their own Secretary of State says it all. Antigua and Barbuda will soon find out how fatal that can be.
More then sixty years oppression of the Cuban people. This shows that they have no empathy whatsoever for the Human Race. How can they. Look again at their track record. They are the only nation on earth that have committed the most heinous crimes against humanity. Starting with Slavery of the Black Africans. They never hesitated to drop not one but two atomic bombs over innocent people in Japan. And do not mention the Napalm Bomb they dropped in Vietnam. The land they claim is theirs, used to belong to the Indians. Where are these people now. Almost all of them extinct. It is a good thing that Black People know how to survive. or else we would have also been extinct as a race.
Were it not for the help that China have given us and still is, our country our economy would not be this advance. Our Airport, our Sea Port, our Cricket Stadium, our Hospital and many many more development projects.
So now one should even try to fear monger the Chinese for things they never did in the past, so why even think they will do it in the future. We all know the rule. Look at the past if you want to know your future.
As Bob Marley sang. “Don’t forget your history””Know your destiny””In the abundance of water””The fool is thirsty”.
