This past week (February 1 st to 4th) the medical team conducted a total of 93 rapid tests on individuals who potentially were exposed to the virus. Samples from those which showed positive results were sent to Antigua and onwards to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) which is the official agency for coordinating the testing and other pandemic related issues for the region.
Conclusive RT-PCR tests were carried out on the samples.
Two test reports returned positive on Saturday 6th February. This means that we now have 4 persons who are confirmed as testing positive for CoVid-19 in Barbuda.
The Barbuda Council and its medical team continues to manage the situation guided by the National Pandemic protocols. The persons affected have been placed in isolation and others who might have been exposed have been notified so that the necessary actions can be taken. The Barbuda Council is presently examining these latest developments and will make further adjustments in the measures to safeguard the health and safety of the community.
Again, we remind the Barbudan community that as cases continue to escalate in Antigua the likelihood of the virus spreading in Barbuda increases. We must therefore increase our vigilance and protect ourselves by adhering to the National CoVid-19 pandemic protocols that have recently been upgraded and those measures initiated by the Barbuda Council. Please continue to be safe.
