Two National Swim Teams Set to travel for overseas competition
(Antigua and Barbuda, 13th August 2025) The Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation is pleases to announce that two national swim teams will depart the island this week for major competitions, marking what has been a busy and exciting summer for the sport.
The first team departs tomorrow, Thursday, August 14, 2025, to participate in the 29th edition of the Goodwill Swimming Championships, to be held in Barbados from August 14–17, 2025. Later in the week, another team will travel to Otopeni, Romania, to compete in the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships, taking place from August 16–25, 2025.
The Goodwill Swimming Championships is an annual age-group tournament for select countries in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). It provides valuable exposure and competitive experience for younger and developing swimmers, fostering regional camaraderie and sports development.
This year, Antigua and Barbuda will be represented by six female athletes and five male athletesin the Goodwill competition:
Female Swimmers
- 9–10 age group: Nia Hill, Jordin Howell, Isabel Nicholas, Anna Sukumaran
- 11–12 age group: Elizabeth Sukumaran
- 15–17 age group: Elianna Spencer
Male Swimmers
- 9–10 age group: Major Emmanuel
- 11–12 age group: Tristan Nicholas
- 13–14 age group: Jadon Green, Malique Josephs, McGlen Burns
The team is led by CoachJ’air Smith, with Team Manager Andrea Roberts Nicholas and Chaperones Camilla Sukumaran and Kara Ann Spencer providing support.
Meanwhile, the seven-member swim team heading to theWorld Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships will compete against top youth swimmers from around the globe.

The team will be guided by Coach and Team Leader Wayne Mitchell, with Team Officials Anjanette Wiltshire, Gaurav Sindhi, and Laurilyn Dublin.
Both delegations carry the hopes and pride of Antigua and Barbuda as they prepare to showcase their talent, dedication, and competitive spirit on the regional and global stage.
Local swimmers also represented Antigua and Barbuda at the World Swimming Championships in Singapore from July 24 to August 1, 2025, and at the Junior Pan Am Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, from August 10 to 14, 2025.
