Two men will face trial nearly four years after the disappearance and death of Gray’s Farm resident Arthur James.
Zamir O’Garro and Uroy Joseph are accused of killing James, with Joseph also charged as an accessory to murder. The trial is set to begin on 3 December before Justice Ann Marie Smith.
James was last seen on 28 October 2021. A missing person report filed by his family prompted an extensive search by police and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force. Officers recovered a mobile phone linked to James before discovering charred human remains in a burnt-out vehicle in Freetown two days later. Forensic analysis in April 2022 confirmed the remains were his.
Authorities believe James was kidnapped by the accused before his death. A third defendant, Obasic O’Garro—Zamir’s brother—died before the case proceeded. Joseph is reportedly a cousin of the O’Garro brothers.
Zamir O’Garro will be represented by Attorney Sherfield Bowen, while Uroy Joseph’s defence will be handled by Attorney Lawrence Daniels.
