Two Men Charged in Aggravated Robbery and Shooting Incident

Antigua and Barbuda police have arrested and jointly charged 18-year-old Maurice Belgrave Jr. of All Saints and 30-year-old Ernesto Estevan Lawrence of Swetes in connection with an aggravated robbery and shooting that occurred on Sunday, 29 June 2025.
The incident took place at the Now and Later Supermarket on Federation Road in Grays Farm.
The accused reportedly robbed the proprietor of an undisclosed sum of money and shot her in the left leg before fleeing the scene.
Both men have been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Shooting with Intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm, Possession of Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition. They are expected to appear in court sometime today.

It is apparent that most of the crimes are being committed by hard core juvenile criminals.
It will continue as long as we deal with the person and not the crime.
Years ago two people were involved in the near death beating of a young boy in the Ottos area.
One was arrested and had been imprisoned for that crime.
The other was never dealt with.
According to the ‘advocates’ and ‘mothers’ he was a juvenile.
Rather than dealing with the crime they dealt with him and he continued on his life of crime.
A few years later he was arrested for murder.
He robbed and killed a Syrian businessman on DeSouza Road.
How many advocates and mothers will sing the same song, ‘He is just a child…….’ after one of the criminal youth should attack, wound or maim their innocent young child?
The time to prevent it is now.
If you commit a big man’s crime we will deal with the big man’s crime irrespective of your age.
We do not hold back children in school because of their age.
We applaud their exploits from the earliest age.
Let us likewise deal with their crime in a like manner.

Back in the day in a far off Country they had a phantom Squad all dressed in black clothes and all the bad dudes went into hiding because that squad came looking for all the bad dudes that were doing crime with mortuary bags in their pick up trucks.
Bet anything these would be among the young idiots who glorify the mighty herb, mostly what they do is thief, smoke they herb and do not want anything meaningful to do, but then again they were given permission to have their own trees in their backyard
I have said this before and will saybit again. Jail is NOT a place for juveniles, it only teains them to be worse when they come out. Mikitary discipline and education IS THE ANSWER considering many of the young criminals have nevwr been taught any other way. When they committing crimes between 10 and 18, send them to a boot camp situation similar to the US and other countries. They can spend ONE night in jail as abpart of the scared straight program.
Most of these people in jail at the present moment for crime that was a alleged they have committed without proper forensic sense to prove that they did it. Antigua needs a proper forensic lab and forensic scientists so they can gather evidence at a scene of crime and dealt with that crime and evidence the same day. They also need to install video cameras on the lamp post in each and every community this will eliminate the amount of crimes that are taking place.
No matter the age kill them….especially you young boys will drop like flies, stop trouble people things. I see alot of you wearing hoodies in broad day light in this humidity…lost dumb youth
If the government can bring out the black-shirted ABDF to go after women and children to curtail them on Tear Gas Sunday during theCovid-19 pandemic, surely the ABLP can put them back on our unmanned streets to curtail the growing crime wave threatening to engulf us.
