A new initiative to tackle waste management in St. John’s has been launched by the government, aiming to reduce the amount of litter on the city’s streets and improve cleanliness.
Rawdon Turner, Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, confirmed in an interview with ABS that the government will enforce stricter rules regarding business waste disposal.
The new regulations, which prohibit businesses from placing waste outside of designated times, will be enforced through daily patrols by litter wardens and inspectors from St. John’s Development.
“We are committed to keeping St. John’s clean and safe for everyone,” Turner said.
The new measures will include specific times between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM for businesses to dispose of their waste, with penalties for non-compliance.
