CNN-US President Donald Trump said that he had cancelled a “previously expected” second wave of attacks on Venezuela due to the country’s cooperation with the US.
The announcement came in a Truth Social post early Friday, in which Trump praised the actions of Venezuela’s acting government.
It was the first time that the US president mentioned the possibility of another wave of attacks in the country and comes nearly a week after he ordered a military operation to oust former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who is currently in US custody along with his wife Cilia Flores.
In his social media post early Friday, Trump said Venezuela was “releasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of ‘Seeking Peace,’” adding, “This is a very important and smart gesture.”
Venezuela began releasing the high-profile prisoners on Thursday, including opposition politicians in an effort to “seek peace,” the acting government said.
Trump went on say that the two nations are “working well together, especially as it pertains to rebuilding, in a much bigger, better, and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure.”
“Because of this cooperation, I have cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks, which looks like it will not be needed, however, all ships will stay in place for safety and security purposes,” he added.
In the aftermath of the US operation to oust Maduro, Trump had said the US would effectively “run” the country and did not rule out the possibility of longer-term military involvement.
Trump is also set to meet at the White House on Friday with executives from major oil companies to persuade them to increase Venezuela’s oil output and make new investments in the country.
He claimed that “at least 100 Billion Dollars will be invested by BIG OIL,” but the oil industry has expressed serious skepticism about ponying up tens of billions of dollars over a decade to restore Venezuela’s oil infrastructure.

Well said, but in everything you said ( which is very truthful by the way) there is another underlying truth to all that, and it is that, this too shall pass.
Not to dismiss the very fear that the world has exhibited under these historical events, but how do we understand the defining thought that will have us not cower if fear?
For me, and as the same as in the days of Daniel in the lions Den, or the three brothers in the Burning furnace, or David standing up to Goliath ( all stories none the less) that same very resolve is tantamount in today’s times, as in the days of Nebuchadnezzar.
Faith is the opposite of fear..so even these times should pass, we shouldn’t hide from it or cower to it, but continue to stand in our faith, that there is only one King, One lord of all.
