Tropical Storm Philippe to Impact Antigua and Barbuda Today

NHC- Tropical Storm Philippe is on a course to pass near or just northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands later today, prompting concerns of heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

As of 5:00 AM AST, Philippe’s center was located at 17.1 North, 60.0 West, moving northwest at 7 mph with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.

Tropical storm conditions are possible in the watch areas beginning later today, with rainfall estimates of 4 to 6 inches for Barbuda and Antigua and 2 to 4 inches for the rest of the Leeward Islands.

Swells generated by Philippe may cause life-threatening surf and rip currents.
