Tropical Storm Philippe Grows Slightly Stronger, Threatens Northern Leeward Islands

NHC – Tropical Storm Philippe has intensified, with maximum sustained winds reaching 50 MPH.

It is expected to drift east of the Northern Leeward Islands throughout the weekend.

Though no coastal warnings are currently in effect, residents in the Northern Leeward Islands, U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico should remain vigilant.

Philippe’s slow movement towards the west-southwest is forecasted to continue, with a gradual turn towards the west and northwest expected.

It poses a potential threat with life-threatening surf and rip current conditions along the Atlantic coasts. Please stay tuned for updates from local weather offices.

Tropical Storm Rina Accelerates Northwestward, No Immediate Coastal Warnings:

Tropical Storm Rina is gaining speed as it moves northwestward, with sustained winds of 45 MPH.

Located east of the Northern Leeward Islands, it poses no immediate coastal warnings.

Rina is expected to maintain its strength for the next day before gradually weakening early next week.
