The storm, currently located about 835 miles (1,345 km) east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (85 km/h) and is expected to strengthen over the coming days, with hurricane conditions possible by Thursday.

A Tropical Storm Watch indicates that conditions are possible, and residents are urged to begin preparations. Meteorologists say the likelihood of storm-force winds reaching Antigua is currently 21%, while Barbuda faces a 52% chance.

The NHC has forecast that Jerry’s core could pass near or just north of the northern Leeward Islands late Thursday into Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend up to 125 miles (205 km) from the storm’s centre.
In addition to strong winds, the Leeward Islands may see 2 to 4 inches of rain, raising the risk of flash flooding, particularly in higher terrain. Coastal areas are also warned of dangerous swells and rip currents.
Authorities in Antigua and Barbuda are monitoring the situation closely and advise residents to stay tuned to updates from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services and to take necessary precautions.
