She is accused of fraudulently converting to her own use and benefit the amount of $7,000 entrusted to her for box hand between January 13, and September September 14, 2024.
The Factory Road resident is one of two females that were taken into custody and questioned by police in connection with this ongoing fraud investigation. She is due in court sometime this week.

You posted the identity of the first one. Where is Tricia Webb’s picture?
Do you have a photo of her to share with us?
Yes Yes I have one of her, just look right behind you, in the crack, you’ll see a dark hole,
check in there.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Pringle stand up in front of 40 people at Seaview Farm Playing Field and say that the party is strong lol 😆 😂 💪
@Gisele cantt…That could not have been a good picture.
This don’t stop. This is why I don’t join boxes. I open my credit union and that’s my box. Can’t trust people these days
Sometimes not even credit union you can trust
WOW. This is what make people like myself afraid to join boxes. This is misuse of people trust
Ah SHEIN and TEMU hab dem so!!!!
I find it curious how we are so comfortable with, easily judging one another from an article in the media without looking at other possible sides of a story.
I really don’t care if you come for me, truly I don’t, but hear me out!
I am by no means an expert on Box Hand/Sous Sous, but common sense… Also, in my very limited experience/exposure to the practice, like most relationships (business or otherwise), it is primarily based on trust, then competency, as well as a proven track record over time.
THE GENERAL PREMISE OF THE PRACTICE
Of course it goes without saying that, “members trust the holder to secure the ‘individual hands’ and to ‘pay out’ the accumulated ‘hand’ at the agreed upon intervals”. We tend however to forget, conveniently or otherwise, that the “holder also trusts each member to ‘throw their hand(s)’ IN FULL, at the agreed upon intervals”. Because unless and until every person deposits their hand, the pot is short and the ‘collecting party’ cannot be paid on time.
HISTORICAL PRACTICE
Once upon a time, our foreparents navigated this practice, generally without hiccups, solely by word of mouth, because people could be trusted to keep their word: fancy documents weren’t required, beyond an exercise book and a pencil or pen.
Box hands have been the source of many of our ancestors’ ability to advance themselves and their families: build a house; repair a house; buy a car; pay for children’s education.
In all of my very big years of hearing relatives and acquaintances talking about “box money”, hearing of holders defaulting on payment is something that has become an issue within the last 15 – 20 years, or so…and whenever there was such an issue, it was generally attributed to some kind of robbery, be it at the Box Holder’s home, vehicle or of their person.
AGAIN THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE. Others may have experienced otherwise.
PRESENT-DAY PRACTICE
As time went by, Box Holders had to get more technical, in order to attempt to mitigate risks and to protect themselves/their reputation/their enterprise; going so far as executing contracts with members, adding things like ‘security hand’, late payment penalties and such other measures to make sure that members keep their word, and throw their hands responsibly as agreed.
Of course, now here we are with an uptick of instances of people who can’t get their hand when it’s their turn and ultimately, it’s the holder’s responsibility to ensure payment is made.
Interestingly, what no one is talking about is how the members themselves potentially play a part in these situations.
CONSIDER THESE POSSIBLE SCENARIOS & LIKELY OUTCOMES:
1. ALL Members throw their box money as agreed, weekly/fortnightly/monthly by the set day and time.
~ Collecting Party gets their “hand” as expected.
2.

A Box Holder can go years with a good track record and all it takes is ONE BAD APPLE to ‘poil the whole basket!
CONSIDER THESE POSSIBLE SCENARIOS & LIKELY OUTCOMES:
1. ALL Members throw their box money as agreed, weekly/fortnightly/monthly by the set day and time.
~ Collecting Party gets their FULL “hand” as expected.
2. SOME Members faithfully honors their obligations and throws as agreed. A FEW sometimes encounter challenges because of their employers’ tardiness, but they are generally responsible with their obligations and include the additional fees as agreed when they are late. These Members often communicate with the Box Holder, who then can notify the Collecting Party of the minor delay.
~ Collecting Party is able to get their FULL “hand”, though delayed by a day or two.
3. OTHERS (let’s call them Mischief Makers) are wantonly boastful about throwing HOW AND WHEN THEY FEEL, because “me no kay”, “a so me tap”, “dem cyarn do me nutten”: quite simply they are SELFISH BULLIES who care only about themselves. These kinds of members are quite often VERY LATE to throw their hands, and COMPLETELY IGNORES the late/penalty fees, essentially short paying their obligations.
~ Collecting Party is unable to collect their “hand” as agreed.
~ Because these types are habitually late, any security contingency (which they usually never paid) is often eroded as Box Holder tries to prevent paying responsible members late.
4. SOME Members throw quite well until they COLLECT THEIR HAND…then they STOP throwing.
~ The result of this scenario, other members yet to collect will get a smaller “hand”.
~ The Box Holder makes up the difference from their personal resources – AN UNTENABLE POSITION THAT IS FOOLHARDY TO START, AND UNSUSTAINABLE!
5. OTHERS i.e. Mischief Makers, whose turn it is to collect: because despite agreeing to the stipulations of the contract, that if their tardiness is chronic, they will be pushed to the end of the lineup, they still want to get their “hand” when they wanted originally.
~ These are the ones who are loudest about can’t collect “hand”, knowing full well they were BAD MEMBERS and how they have wreaked havoc with the Box Holder’s enterprise. But remember they are SELFISH BULLIES, MISCHIEF MAKERS!
6. Now consider that one Box Holder has an enterprise running, and there are more than one of these MISCHIEF MAKERS in the ranks!
~ I trust you can just imagine the problems!
7. Also consider that one or more of these MISCHIEF MAKERS is “friendly with” certain people who have clout and love to flex, as we say in local parlance!
~ People get harassed and man-handled, just because of who is friendly with whom.
CONCLUSION
Yeah SHEIN and TEMU popular, but before there were those, there was Bata, Stephen Shoul, Super Power, Top Ranking, Courts…many local places to spend money too. Or they could go to Puerto Rico or Miami or New York.
It is NOT NECESSARILY ALL the fault of the Box Holder!
I noticed that commentary under the previous article about the other similar recent situation, some people noted that their experience with CID/POLICE, in trying to get people to honour their obligations, they were told to file civil suit. Some took the advice and went that route and are still waiting for the necessary department to take action!
I suppose these people don’t have friends in high (or low) places! 😑😔
Maybe, just maybe, Box Holders need to also come to the SUPREME COURT of PUBLIC OPINION, especially if they can’t seem to find redress otherwise.
I recommend that they resort to broadcasting delinquent Members’ names and photos on Social Media too.
OF COURSE , THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE BOX HOLDERS WHO ARE NOT OUT THERE SCAMMING PEOPLE.
TLDR; don’t be so quick to judge; sometimes “more in the mortar than the pestle”.
