Travellers not fully vaccinated must quarantine at approved property as Jolly Harbour quarantine closes

Cabinet Notes:

The Cabinet agreed that all persons entering Antigua and Barbuda who have not been fully vaccinated will be required, upon arrival, at their expense, to proceed to bio-secure places such as hotels, air BNBs and guest houses that have been certified by the Central Board of Health.

 

The Cabinet discourages travel away from Antigua by residents and nationals who have not taken the vaccine–which is free.

 

Upon return, they will be required to pay the hotels and other places where they will be compelled to stay; the Government will no longer be operating a quarantine center at the Jolly Beach after those who are there complete their quarantine.

 

The hotel is to be put back into regular service in order to receive paying guests, discontinuing the practice of utilizing their rooms for housing un-vaccinated persons who are required to quarantine.

 

This new policy takes effect almost immediately, in order to allow the hotel to begin sprucing up its property for the receipt of visiting guests.

 

The Government will rely principally on rooms at the former U.S. Base to accommodate quarantined passengers.

  1. I was actually released for the Jolly Beach Quarantine Center this week and I can tell you it made no sense in the first place. No quarantine protocols are observed at the center. Persons who are just entering the facility were allowed to interact with persons who had already been quarantining for 12 days, so this person just entering quarantine could have transmitted covid-19 to persons who were about to be released. Which means the so-called community spread that they are so concerned about was not protected anyway. There were parties, persons hooking up sexually and I even heard some talk of prostitution. I saw officers harassing females quarantining. Really, that quarantine facility was an absolute joke and most persons there were not paying. So I am happy the Government has come to their senses and stopped providing unvaccinated travelers with free accommodation and food, using taxpayer’s money. Utilize the bracelets that you spent so much money on and lock up anyone that leaves their home where they should be quarantining.

  6. Why should I go to a designated place to be quarantine ( and have to pay) when I am Negative and have a three bedroom, three bathroom house. I did not ask to go there, visitors go to hotels and walk around.TUPIDNESS, DUNCE ELEMENTS.
