(Ministry Condemns Break-In and Theft at Tranquility Park Cemetery)

The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment, and Civil Service Affairs expresses deep disappointment and concern following a recent break-in and theft at the newly dedicated Tranquility Park Cemetery.

The Ministry is disheartened that such an act has occurred at a site intended to provide a peaceful, dignified final resting place for loved ones. That individuals would deliberately violate the sanctity of this space by stealing from it and causing such extensive destruction is both disrespectful and deeply troubling. The perpetrators ripped out the air conditioning unit, broke the entrance, removed the water cooler, and inflicted severe damage to the telecommunication infrastructure, electrical wiring, and other essential systems.

An active police investigation is currently underway, and the Ministry is urging members of the public who may have any information to come forward and assist law enforcement in bringing those responsible to justice.

Tranquility Park Cemetery was established to serve the people of Antigua and Barbuda with dignity, respect, and care. The Ministry remains committed to protecting this sacred space and maintaining its integrity for all families and future generations.

  1. Whomsoever those robbers are they will never sleep well. To rob the place of last rest. That takes an act of total selfishness. They will pay – One way or the other.

  2. Sad
    Too early
    Even the dead get robbed
Nobody laid to rest yet, and that’s all some body can decide to do.

  3. Nothing should surprise us in this fair land of ours these days. Thieves target just about any and everything……schools, churches and even cemetery. The things and places that were once feared and revered by crooks, thieves and bandits are no longer so. Even before a dead is laid to rest in the new cemetery, they stealing. It is therefore important that security cameras are put in place within the cemetery compound in order to secure, maintain and protect the sanctity of those that we would lay to rest there. These days we just cannot leave anything to chance.

  4. Oh my Lord, even the cemetery, Antigua gone to the dogs, thieving is the national past time. Those at the top must be removed to bring back a sense of pride and decency, this has to be our priority, the next election cannot be too soon

  5. That breaking is caused by person or persons who are not in favor of the cemetery bring there. By damaging so many things in there to include the electrical, that person will be the first to be buried there. None sense.

  6. Little Johnnie, my boy, do not get carried away by your suggestion, bandits are in every nook and cranny of Antigua, just recently I heard one guy telling the other the biggest bandits are our leaders which stuck me like a dagger in the chest

  10. Real Antiguan you are the ass hole. How insensitive can you be. I hope they catch who was responsible and lock them ass up

  11. I agree with what was said. If the cemetery is open and functioning, if cameras and security is in place and if a proper and sensible surrounding fence is erected, all this would cease. Stop making this place into a tourist and now teef destination. Stsrt put dead up dey!!!! Nobody ever go in public cemetery and rob there, so how come this happened???
