The Ministry of Tourism has a new initiative which involves the addition of 500 rooms per year for the next three years.
According to Tourism Minister Charles “Max” Fernandez, tourism is seeing increase in air arrival figures to the island which is said to be at 12.5 percent for 2019 over the same period last year.
A total of 25,188 more visitors landed at the V C Bird International Airport in 2019 (225,791) than last year (200,603).
“That had to do with the fact that we had a new, strong marketing initiative – #whatcoollookslike,” said Fernandez.
The campaign began back in March and has offered consumers major savings on their vacation to Antigua and Barbuda for travel during the periods April – October, 2019.

How will he add 500 rooms? Who will add 500 rooms?
Something don’t sound right.
Gastronomics at work!
Where are they adding these 500 rooms?
500 keys for year to s just not achievable, this is when a minister hasn’t had anything to do with tourism
To build 500 keys you need 18 to 24 months. But the point is not feasibility
The point is quality, they want to turn this heaven into another mass market “santo Domingo” type where Antigua should have more boutique style hotel rather than giant adult all inclusive
That don’t encourage their guest to do out its doors and explore the island generate business for the local community.
