Tourism Minister Anticipates Surge in Country’s Room Stock with Upcoming Tourism Projects
Antigua and Barbuda’s Tourism Minister, Hon Charles Fernandez, expressed optimism regarding the nation’s tourism industry, foreseeing a substantial increase in room stock due to several pending tourism projects.
Minister Fernandez highlighted the significant developments underway, indicating a promising future for the country’s hospitality sector.
“Not only do we have a number of hotels that are operating, but we have a number of them in the pipeline,” Minister Fernandez remarked, underscoring the ongoing efforts to bolster the tourism infrastructure. Among the upcoming projects mentioned by the Minister are the Royal Fik, set to open next month, and the introduction of the renowned “One and Only” brand, replacing the former Half Moon property.
Additionally, Minister Fernandez mentioned the forthcoming Moon Gate with around 80 villas, the reopening of Hawksbill after renovations, and the initiation of construction for the Noble Hotel in Barbuda within the next two months. He also pointed out developments such as PLH in Barbuda, Rosewood in Barbuda, and the anticipated opening of Marriott in Antigua in approximately 18 months.
“There’s a lot of properties that have been developed between Antigua and Barbuda,” emphasized Minister Fernandez, highlighting the collaborative efforts to enhance the tourism landscape in the region. These projects not only signify a surge in roomstock but also reflect the continuous commitment to attracting visitors and enhancing the overall tourism experience.”
