Tiny H.O.P.E – Parents Support Group Celebrates Prematurity Awareness Week

Antigua and Barbuda – Tiny H.O.P.E – Parents Support Group, a dedicated team of parents who have experienced the unique challenges of parenting premature babies, proudly announces a week of activities in recognition of Prematurity Awareness Week.

This initiative aims to provide essential support and resources to parents of preterm infants, newborns, and those who have faced the heartbreaking experience of premature loss.

On November 20th, Tiny H.O.P.E hosted its inaugural Appreciation Day, where heartfelt gratitude was extended to parents currently in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Each participating family received thoughtful gifts including spa vouchers from Wellness FootPrint Spa, dinner passes from Carlisle Bay Resort, care packages from Johnson and Johnson (Anjo Wholesale), and food vouchers from Epicurean.

The response from parents was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the importance of community support during such challenging times.

In addition to supporting families, the NICU team was recognized for their unwavering dedication and compassion. Generous contributions from local businesses included electrical kettles from Townhouse Mega Store, thermometers from TMS Pharmacy and Ramco Pharmacy, as well as gift vouchers from South Coast Horizon, The FoxHouse Restaurant, and Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa.

This day of appreciation served as a reminder of the teamwork required in caring for our most vulnerable infants.

“At Tiny H.O.P.E, we believe that no parent should navigate the journey of premature birth alone. Our community is here to uplift, support, and empower families during this challenging time,” said Jhavline Patrick, President of Tiny H.O.P.E. “We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our local businesses, whose contributions make a real difference in the lives of parents and their precious little ones.”

Vice President Isher Alfred added, “The bonds formed within our support group are invaluable. We invite all parents who have experienced the challenges of prematurity to join us. Together, we can share our stories, provide encouragement, and foster a sense of belonging in a supportive environment.”

Tiny H.O.P.E is always looking to expand its network, and we encourage local businesses to consider sponsoring future events or providing resources for our families. Together, we can continue to raise awareness and support those affected by prematurity.
