Ministry explains absence of COVID-19 dashboard

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment  apologizes for the delayed publication of the dashboard.  This is due to an ongoing audit of the Covid-19 data being carried out by the Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit.

 

The Ministry has however resumed the daily publication of the dashboard and expresses appreciation to members of the public for their patience during the delay.

 

In this regard, the most recent reports received by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment from the Mount St. Johns Medical Centre (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), covering the period April 28th through to May 4th 2021 at 6pm have revealed eight (8) new laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda.

 

The new cases are as follows: one (1) new case on April 28th, three (3) on April 29th, two (2) on April 30th and two (2) on May 3rd 2021.

 

There were one hundred and fifty-four (154) recovered cases recorded during the same period as follows: One hundred and thirty-three (133) on April 28th, three (3) on April 29th, eleven (11) on May 1st and seven (7) on May 4th 2021.

 

This brings the total number of recoveries to one thousand one hundred and sixty-eight (1168).

 

During the audit, the Epidemiology Unit also discovered that seven (7) of the Covid-19 cases were duplicated. As a result, the confirmed cases column is being reduced by seven (7). The other relevant columns have also been adjusted.

 

Consequently, the total number of persons with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is one thousand two hundred and thirty-one (1231); which is inclusive of thirty-one (31) active cases.  Of these active cases five (5) are hospitalized with all being considered mild.

 

The audit investigation of the Covid-19 related deaths is still ongoing and is being carried out in order to ensure that the deaths are recorded and classified according to the World Health Organizarion (WHO) standards of Covid-19 related deaths.

 

This could result in an adjustment to this category which will be promptly published upon completion of the investigation which is expected to be no later than Friday 14th May 2021.

 

Meanwhile, the total number of persons vaccinated as of May 4th, 2021 is thirty thousand seven hundred and four (30,704).

 

The dashboard has been updated to reflect these changes.

  4. To encourage vaccination: as done in Germany, make exemptions for fully vaccinated people eg no curfew, no need to quarantine. At the same time increase penalties for unvaccinated out after curfew etc

  11. Please have the vaccine, as most vulnerable people here in the UK have had the first jab. It is not dangerous and it does protect against severe illness. We are almost free of Covid hospitalisations and cases in the UK. It makes sense for all of us throughout the world. Read the science and not the oddbods who spread nonsense. If Antiguans are to make a living again you need to consider the vaccine. Otherwise I cannot afford to visit my family in Antigua and people will stop visiting.

  12. Science are not perfect beings they make alot of mistakes, along with the politicians, the pastors. Never put your trust in man they will fail.
    Put your trust in God not man! Not science and experimental vax but God and nature .

    If you are comfortable with the vax and you are protected why worry because someone else dont feel comfortable and dont want to take it.
    Free will yes or no! If we were meant to be controlled each one will have been born with a remote controller.

    Fear has captivated some people minds that they are unable to think rational like all hope is lost, we are not to live in fear of the invisible but live in faith despite the situation we faces.

    There is an agenda to steal, kill and destroy just like 400 years ago, people need to open their eyes and be vigilant, respect people views and stop entertaining colonialism. This is not only about a virus

    The moment you entertain that a person should not have a choice saying you agree to colonialism

    Suppose a woman cant say no to a man and he force her into sex , is that ok?

    Force labour is that ok?

    Human trafficking ?

    Lets not let fear divide the vax , antivax and the not ready to take vax, do what you can do to protect your self.

    To have a healthy nation did they ban smoking, drinking and so much money is involved, wealth over health it has been in the past and now the people are loved some much that if they dont take the vax they should starve to death. They have no right to live, some things is ok to discriminate against and some are not?
