Thousands packed the Antigua Recreation Grounds on Friday as the One Nation Caribbean Music Festival opened with a strong first night, marked by visible regional turnout and a packed performance schedule.

Dominican and St. Lucian flags dotted the crowd as artists from across the region took the stage. One of the night’s most talked-about moments came when Prime Minister Gaston Browne, performing under his stage persona “Gassy Dread,” appeared alongside Jamaican entertainer Mr. Vegas.

The show also featured performances by Jamaican acts Masicka, Capleton, Christopher Martin and Gramps Morgan, while Dominica’s Signal Band injected high-energy bouyon into the lineup. Local performers Tian Winter, Claudette Peters and Burning Flames also featured.

Festival activities continue Saturday from 5 p.m., with gospel star Tasha Cobbs Leonard headlining a programme that includes regional and local gospel artistes.

  2. This is the kind of foolishness fed to our young people so they can’t that their future is getting more bleak by the day under ABLP

  3. How our future bleak? Let’s begin there. Y’all don’t want to see us happy. Leave our PM alone let him enjoy himself. Y’all hate us the young people. He loves everybody, rasta, bald head, drunkards, young people, old people. Leave him alone. Y’all put him under tremendous stress to run this country with all your lies. My prime minister is the best. Mek he lone!

  4. The Island known to all as Antigua. It is owned by the Antigua Labor Party. Take a look around the Island.Just about all things of importance are named for former Labor Party Supporters. Why nothing in Antigua are named for Malcolm Daniel and Keithlyn Smith. They both made huge contributions to Antigua.I forgot, they were not with the ALP/ABLP.

  5. While most of us find it rewarding to come on ANR and make the 268 looks like the worst place on God’s earth through our political views, and although we are going through all this drama with the US, i still find us to be the happiest population in the world. The struggle may continue, but through the years we continue to do what it takes to survive. It’s amazing that even the man we assume is shaking in his boots presently and as many claimed afraid of the Lovell come back, is on stage jamming. Wadadli to the fullest.
