CABINET NOTES: The Cabinet took a decision to develop the north side of Rat Island as an extension of the cruise port. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATS APP GROUP

The project has not yet been costed, but the return on investment is expected to justify the expenditure.

Yachts are expected to make use of the facility, as will small cruise ships.

The dredging will take place to allow vessels requiring less deep draughts, than are utilized by the Heritage Quay docks, to be used.

Find out who owns all the lands around Dredge Bay and you will have the answer. Antigua is in dire need of infrastructure, but money will be spent where pappy and family can benefit.

  1. Will the dredging of that area takes another 5 years.Like it has been on the other side of Rat Island/Washing Basin.

  2. Alert! Environment Division
Immediate need for independent eco-assessment and clear, publicly shared list of Do’s and Don’ts for any project there. Marine, Land & Ai based, govt and/or private.

Let’s get ahead of the development this time instead of playing the usual ineffective catch-up after the covert deals are done.

  3. A thought…how much of the ‘new water projects’ output will be used in this plan?
Because all Antiguans need dependable potable 24/7 pipe water before a drop of those ‘new water projects’ fill small cruise and mega yacht tanks at Rat.
