The Nation Told To Pray And Fast On November 1

Antigua and Barbuda’s 39 independence anniversary on November 1 will be observed as a day of prayer and fasting.

The decision to hold this day of prayer and fast was taken at yesterday’s meeting of the cabinet.

A cabinet note the day of prayer and fasting is meant “to thank God for sparing the state from the ravages of COVID-19 experienced elsewhere.”

Independence Day celebrations have already been scaled back since there are prohibitions on mass gatherings due to COVID-19.

  1. I can understand the fasting but exactly what will the prayer do?

    What does separation of church and state really mean?

    Did the Cabinet outline who the prayers will go to Buddha, Allah, Selassie, Satan, Shambo, Mary, I am, come on this is 2020 time for Afrikan people to open their eyes and stop participating in that imaginary game.

  2. This is a good thing. Again, we will reap what we sow. On that day every rum shop in Antigua must be locked down and every brothel nailed shut. No alcohol on Independence Day. Every drug dealer and user needs to be shut down. The People want to FAST AND PRAY. Yes, we reap what we sow.

  5. Great suggestion, pray and fast on sunday and continue on the monday with the promiscuity, adulery, lies, hatred, jealousy, disrespect and self enrichment.
    If Cabinet is so concerned about our moral fabric, maybe we should have a mandatory week of introspection, not everyone prays and fasting is not good for some people.
    Be not deceived, God is NOT mocked!!!

  6. What? No ramen noodles and vienna sausages on that day? The govt staple meal? Or is all supplies have run dry so they are spinning it to say, ‘Lets not eat on that day’. Either way, we all should have learnt from the Bible that God is not mocked, so what a man(country) soweth, that he shall also reap. Nuff said!

  9. Humble pray ,fast , and turn from wicked ways, we need to stop letting politics control the the churches thats why the country is like this. The church is too silent. They should be a positive influence on politics not politics controlling them. It is better to obey God rather than man. Right now it looks like pure Scribes and Pharasees in this country
