Press Release on the Adjudication of Lands in Barbuda
Consequent on Barbuda being brought under the Registered Land (Amendment) Act, 2023, the land adjudication process in Barbuda has commenced.
The Order declaring the Government’s intention to effect the adjudication was published in Gazette No 43 dated 4th October, 2023 and the appointment of Sir Clare Roberts as Adjudication Officer has also been gazetted in Gazette No 47 dated 22nd August,2024.
In accordance with the provisions of the Land Adjudication Act Cap 234, the following Notices have been issued: –
- Section 5 Notice
The division of the Adjudication Area No 7, Barbuda, into Adjudication Sections or Registration Sections as follows:-
- West Coast
- Palmetto
- South Coast
- Salt Lake
- East Coast
- Midlands
- Two Foot Bay
- North Coast
- Lagoon
- Section 6 Notice :-
- Specifying the situation and limits of the first Adjudication Section to be adjudicated, namely Salt Lake; and
- Declaring that all interests in land will be ascertained and recorded in accordance with the provisions of the said Act.

Claims are now being accepted in respect of the Salt Lake Adjudication Section Commencement Date: 28th August, 2024 End Date: 30th September 2024

Gaston is bad news for Barbuda; but what he is attempting to do is being aided and abetted by the people you named.
None of them, not ONE has done anything for Barbuda that three mid- civil servants can’t do, except for jump on platform in Codrington and cuss.

The Barbuda Council is dysfunctional. Most working Barbudans are “DOUBLE BREASTING”: the art of having two full time jobs.
Seventy five percent of Barbudans on the Council’s payroll has another fulltime job during the time they are supposed to be working for the Council.
This is not new. Just like it is for Comrades who are ghost workers get a full-time salary from the Antigua government, it’s no different for The Barbuda Council.

This whole “Land Adjudication” thing has many parts and motivations:
1st. PLH buyers want freehold titles otherwise they are backing out of their purchases. They are already in court in …… So PLH is likely to be first online making a claim for freehold title.
Follow the case in Denver Colorado of John B. Turbidy vs. Discovery Land Company aka PLH and BOC. Barbuda land issues are also being adjudicated in Colorado.
2nd. Barbudans are being asked to make their Claim for “Beneficial Occupancy” a different status that what will be given to foreign investors who will have a right to sell while Barbudans won’t.
So where is TREVOR “THE RESOLUTE” WALKER? He will want to argue he is against what Gaston is doing.
So why has he and The spineless Barbuda Council hold meeting with the public on the matter to inform them and seek their input.

That ruling is not the end all and be all. Barbudans lost a historic case, which will make it very hard to win others.

Barbuda housing stock is in much better condition than Antigua with no mortgages.
Irma caused Barbudans to build back better and stronger. And that does not include the two room houses that were built with UNDP funds.

Unlike Antigua which many times don’t have potable water we do. We have wells which we have been using for generations. We are able to go out into the lagoon and fish for our dinner. PLH is contaminating our lagoon with the run-off from their gulf course. Being able to go into the back country and trap guinea fowl, hunt deer and live a wholesome way of life is what we are fighting for.

The Adjuration as is being proposed is being put on the table is to meet the needs of PLH and not a SCHEME for the collective rights of Barbudan people as a class; as ruled by the Privy Council.

Well come to think of it, the Barbuda council is responsible for the land debacle, they enable Gaston brown land grab.
