According to reports, a doctor at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre notified the Police that a 14-year-old boy had ingested poison and was in a critical condition.
This incident reportedly occurred at about 11:45 a.m. on February 16 in Bathlodge.
Sources say the teenager had complained of pains about the body and was rushed to the hospital by his father, who later found out that the boy had swallowed rat poison.
Allegedly, the boy had consumed the poison at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday night because – as he reportedly revealed – he had been feeling pressured at home and at school.
It is alleged that he had been sent home from school after being caught smoking cigarettes and vaping on the compound.
And further reports say that – only a half-hour before the teen ingested the substance – his father had spoken to him about doing better in school.
Then, at about 6:20 a.m. the following day, February 17, the father went to his son’s room and discovered the boy on the floor, covered in his own faeces and frothing at the mouth.

The parent immediately transported him to the hospital, where he was treated by doctors in the Emergency Room and later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Officers reportedly found the poison the teenager had ingested and took it into custody for further investigation purposes.
Reports say the young man was living with his father when he attempted to end his life. However, his mother was notified about the incident after he was taken to the hospital.

But this parent spoke to his son about doing better in school according to the article. He was smoking and vaping at 14 years old and got suspended…to me he needed more than a talking to. For him to try and end his life because he is doing nonsense and his parent spoke to him is the sign of someone who does not want to be corrected. He just wants to do as he pleases with no consequences. When faced with consequences he opts to harm himself. Foolish move by the young man. Maybe a stint in Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital will clear his head. Pity they don’t take persons under 18.

There are many reasons as to why this youth is acting, reacting in this way. While the alleged suicide attempt has been brought to the attention of the public, what has occurred in his past that has led to this? Could it be abuse(physical, mental, sexual, bullying etc.) which is causing him to internalise his pain.
At least he didn’t get hold of weapons and cause mayhem at his school in a murder suicide plot.
