Teen in Custody After 48 Chickens Stolen From Antigua Grammar School
An 18-year-old man is reportedly in police custody following the theft of 48 layer chickens from the Antigua Grammar School in St. John’s.
The chickens, valued at EC$60 each, were allegedly taken from the school’s poultry coop between the morning of July 16 and late morning on July 17. Their combined value is estimated at EC$2,880.
The plywood-and-galvanized coop was reportedly secured around 9 a.m. July 16. A staff member discovered it unsecured and the chickens missing about 11:30 a.m. the following day.
Investigators reportedly found that a section of plywood on the eastern side of the structure had been pried away, providing access to the enclosure.
Acting on information received, police searched an area along Kentish Road and recovered 28 brown chickens. A school employee reportedly identified them as some of the birds stolen from the coop.
Police subsequently took an 18-year-old Kentish Road resident into custody. No charges have been reported.
Forensic personnel processed the scene, while the recovered chickens were photographed and returned to the school.
Investigations are continuing.

I am pretty sure it was all just for buying some fresh gears, smoke stash, renty etc…..
18 years old!! You’re off to a great start buddy. Great start!
Well lord, what else they gonna theif.
Now tell me. Was it worth it? What were u going to do with them?
It’s unfortunate the world we live in where people would rather point fingers that look at the core of the issue. That young man would not have felt the need to go to those lengths if he believe he had other options. What does his home look like? What is his socioeconomic status? What were his plans with the chicken?
We are all products of our environment and circumstances and it’s easy to cast the first stone than to try to create a space for grace tonot only understand what someone else is going through but to lend a helping hand if you can.
That is the really messed up place
Another example of a fine upstanding Antiguan. The future is in good hands. It astounding to see the comments on here seeking to rationalise this scumbags behaviour. He’s a thief and deserves to have the full extent of the law thrown at him. Until there is a zero tolerance policy out in place there will be more and more thefts, shootings, raped and murders happening. Antiguans need to realise that many of them are beyond rehabilitation or being productive members of society. They have no excuse so stop trying to make them. People need to take the law into their own hands and confront themselves thugs and shoot them when they’re in your property. It’s been to long that Antigua has been lenient on its young. Time to get tough and have no mercy on them. 10 years of hard labour should be the standard sentence from here on out
@Soace for Grace. There is no shortage of work in Antigua. Say what you want about the Labour party but they have created the avenue where anyone can get a job. It won’t be anything glorious but it will at least put food on the table.
I don’t care what this 18 year olds reason was for stealing. They need to be locked away. This country is fast becoming a crime ridden cespool. Antigua can not tolerate one more degenerate. Not one more. We are a full capacity. The government needs to invite President Bukele of El Salvador for a consultation on tackling crime.
Pardner you sarl bad, you can’t get way with dem sudden unless you work fu government, you see how dem people involved in Vehicle Gate go scotch free, you shudda try sudden lakka dat
@Faithful National #2. I couldn’t agree with you more. I wonder what Anansi thinks about the Broncogate scandal and the fact that all went scott free! It’s examples like these the youths see and gravitate to, especially when they see these same people living high on the hog. The youths just don’t understand that “Peter will pay for Paul” and that Peter is them. As long as we are unwilling to start from the top and work our way down, we are just as the saying goes, “spinning top in mud”.
And to Right Winger’s point: dem nar want dem work dey! Dem work dey nar pay no money and is plenty money dey want right now. That kind of money is what their politicians heroes and family seem to have. Point is: the top slack, the middle and bottom even slacker. Start cleaning from the top.
THE YOUNG MAN WAS VERY HUNGRY.HE WAS GOING TO EAT THEM ALL OVER TIME. LOL.
@ Anansi
Strange you never referred to BRONCO GATE as Scumbag behavior because the type of people you obviously admire were involved. Not at all saying the young man was right but the law should be equally applied, being in high office should not give anyone impunity as a matter of fact they should be the standard bearers
