A teenage girl has given evidence via video link in a sexual assault case dating from December 2021, when she was 12.
The complainant, now living overseas, testified at the High Court about alleged incidents at a family friend’s home.
Justice Ann Marie Smith is presiding over the trial.
The girl told the court she had little contact with the defendant before the alleged incidents, describing only brief greetings between them.
She detailed two separate occasions when she claims inappropriate contact occurred during a weekend visit in December 2021.
The complainant said she woke to find the accused in her room touching her back before leaving. She testified he returned later and touched her inappropriately, causing her to feel frightened.
The most serious allegations relate to an incident the girl says happened in the bathroom. She told the court she was pulled from the shower and assaulted despite trying to resist.
The victim said the accused told her to keep the incident secret when she threatened to tell her mother.
The trial continues.
