Teachers Union put licks on Government and government caves. I am sure everyone is now relieved that this debacle is over. In the meantime, civil servants, nurses and the police are all lauding the teachers for their unity and strength and demonstrating just how “force mek pipe bus.” They looked and observed how the teachers did it and have gained valuable lessons themselves.

The Union makes you strong. The Union might make you both strong and irrelevant too. I’m just saying be careful what you hope and live for.

Stand up for what you deserve no weak heart

Well done to the Union..you have done your job in standing up for your clients.

But it should have never gotten this…this government has the worst track record in paying their bills, then they turn around and try to bully the victims(in this case is the teachers). As much as this hypocritical Administration talk about the how much they have done for Antigua, they should learn to pay their debts and stop the talking.

Thank you to the teachers who kept students’ best interests in mind.

Teachers deserve respect, but I’m relieved school will return to normal.

Not everybody is fit to teach other people’s children. I’m sure vacancies exist in other government departments – PWD (roadworks) Dep’t of the environment – MOH (garbage collection/sewage disposal,); Ministry of Agriculture – farm hands, reapers, vendors, for example. Judging from all that has been said and done by them and on their behalf, they are not fit to be teaching the nation’s most impoverished youth. More of the same will produce more of the same. Just read the ignorant comments of these subscribers, praising the misfits for standing up to the government, declaring as one major jackass did that the Government got locks and therefore caved!!!! What a waste of taxpayers’ money. Children are not stones! They know who the real jokers are, the ones who are often absent, are often ill-prepared for class, teach them what they already know or can figure out for themselves, are forever raising funds to treat themselves to undeserved end-of-year cruises, banquets, awards etc. Many children today have little or no respect for their “teachers”. Expect even less going forward.

Good for the teachers that they finally got what is due to them. Good that they stood their ground now I hope they will put that same energy into the job and go and teach the kids. Yes some teachers go above and beyond but there are those teachers who don’t care and only in it for a paycheck. They rarely show up for class and if they do they only stay half the time of the session. They always in the staff room on the phone gossiping and minding the children and other staff members business.

Shouldn’t subscribers be afforded at least the basic courtesy of an explanation as to why their contributions are not published????
