A teacher is set to face trial in Antigua following allegations that he sexually assaulted a student.
According to police reports, the accused was arrested earlier this year after an investigation into a complaint made by a female student. The teacher, who has since resigned from his position, was charged with rape and other related offences under the Sexual Offences Act.
The alleged incident took place during the 2023–2024 academic year. Following the report, investigators conducted interviews and collected evidence before formally charging the suspect.
Authorities confirmed that the individual is no longer employed at the institution where the incident reportedly occurred. School officials stated that they have been cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation and reiterated their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students.
The case is expected to be heard in the High Court after a committal hearing in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court. The accused has been granted bail and is scheduled to return to court later this year.
Officials reminded the public that the matter remains before the court and that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Anyone with relevant information has been urged to contact the police’s Family and Sexual Offences Unit.

You are innocent until proven guilty. In cases like these, the identity of both student and teacher cannot be made public. When the case is called, the teacher name, school and all what happened will be revealed in the print and electronic media. The female student name will never be made public. If you want to know how it happened, go and sit in the court room and listen to the case live.

Note the loud silence when the accompanying video appeared on tv and other social media depicting a teacher awarding the students in his class who were not lazy….because they could gyrate to his satisfaction. Judging from the feedback then, this was one of the best soca songs of the season if not the decade. So now we are horrified about this rape! What hypocrites.
