Tamarlie Williams Triumphs at ABHTA Taste of Wadadli Junior Chef Competition 2024! 🌟

Tamarlie Williams of Pares Secondary School has claimed victory at the 2024 ABHTA Taste of Wadadli Junior Chef Competition, dazzling the judges with his innovative dish, “Spicy Island Beef with Beet, Plantain Gnocchi, and Cabbage Pineapple Pickliz.”

Guided by his mentor, Chef Lemuel Duberry of Mill Reef Club, and supported by Home Economics teacher Shennette Whyte, Williams skillfully tackled the competition’s challenge to reimagine dumplings using beef or fish, plantain, and the secret ingredient—papaya.

Top Honors and Final Placements:

  • 🥈 2nd Place: Italis Christian, Glanvilles Secondary School
    Mentor: Chef Ronald Wilson, Blue Waters Hotel
  • 🥉 3rd Place: Nyiema Williams, All Saints Secondary School
    Mentor: Chef Lindon Alfred, Hodges Bay Resort and Spa
  • 🏅 4th Place: Calbert Francis III, St. Joseph’s Academy
    Mentor: Chef Naomi Thomas, C&C Wine House

Awards and Prizes:

  • Pares Secondary School: EC$10,000 (sponsored by ECAB)
  • Individual Prizes: Bank account with EC$1,000, laptop, and gift package for Tamarlie Williams.
  • Full ABHTI Scholarships for all finalists, courtesy of ABHTA.
