Students at Harrison Centre support death penalty for Angela Mejia in Chantel Crump murder case

15

The upcoming trial of Angela Mejia, accused of murdering nine-year-old Chantel Crump, has prompted strong reactions from students at the Harrison Centre, formerly known as ABICE.

Several students have publicly supported the use of the death penalty in the case, describing the crime as deeply disturbing and calling for the most severe punishment.

Their views reflect wider concerns in the community about child protection and the need for firm legal responses to violent crimes.

  3. This story is so fake
Where did they publicly support the death penalty?
The Privy Council would never support the death penalty so it would be a waste of tax payers money because it would not stand at the final court of appeal.

  4. We still have the death penalty on the books but it is unlikely that it would be ever carried out again. All legal appeals for a defendant must be duly carried out and such appeals would likely take more than 5 years and the appeals court and Privy council sees such inordinate long time to have someone on death row as inhumane and unjust treatment. So we might as well all quit this knee jerk death penalty thing.

  5. Bump statistics! Everybody involved in the abduction and heinous murder of innocent Chantel Crump must be executed point blank period!!! Some of y’alls comments make you suspect which begs the following question: What are you guilty of that you’re afraid of the death penalty? Put another way – What are you involved in that if found out you would be executed too?

  6. Unfortunately some of us commentors, comment for commenting sake without really understanding what are commenting about and end up being bigger dummies..by the way what is a dummy or should I ask, who’s a dummy??

  7. Wow Antiguanewsroom the first part of this story is BRUTAL but at the end i saw the balance. I am also happy to see that you guys are not letting this Chantel matter die…And this needs a round of applause. JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL CRUMP

  8. These young people full of crap, some of them out in the streets doing crime themselves and want to be judge , jury , and executioner. Sound like dumb antiguan parent syndrome to me. Shut your young mouths and go to school and learn how to go serve white tourists in all the resorts here on the island. YAH BIG DUMMIES.

  9. The death penalty does not solve anything. They are just repeating public statements. If you do a pole before elections at a school, you would get a good idea what the public is thinking. Revenge does not solve anyone. It’s far worse to let her stay in prison for the rest of her life. No parole! No visitation!
Grow old in prison, sick in prison, die in prison. The deeds will be ever before her.
When the state seeks vengeance the state gains nothing. Death penalty by hanging , the hangman was looked on as a bad man, a murderer. Psychologically disturbed!
I guess many of you emotionally speaking would say I would take the job. However, when the time comes most of you would not have the heart. Those murders living amongst us a haunted beast.
