Steffan Sylvester, 20, will spend the next 18 months in prison after confessing to unlawful sexual intercourse with two underage girls.
The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 14 and one count of sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16.
The incidents, which involved multiple sexual encounters with girls 13 and 14 years, occurred between June 2018 and April 2019.
The defendant was 18 years old at the time of the incidents and befriended the girls while he was employed as an assistant volleyball coach at their school.
Sylvester was fired after the principal became aware of the relationships and the girls’ parents were notified.
The defendant was also warned by a police officer and the father of one of the girls to stay away from the girls since they were below the age of sexual consent.
However, the relationships continued and Sylvester was later arrested.
He applied for a Goodyear Indication and pleaded guilty after learning what his sentence would be.
He was sentenced to 18 months on the charge of sexual intercourse with a female under 14 and 12 months on the charge of sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16.
The charges were ordered to run concurrently so Sylvester will serve a total of 18 months in prison.
