Washington, DC, December 16…. The Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda informs all nationals that, following the proclamation issued today by U.S. President Donald J. Trump titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States”, significant changes will affect travel to the United States.
Effective January 1, 2026, the entry of Antigua and Barbuda nationals as immigrants and as non-immigrants on B-1, B-2, F, M, and J visas will be suspended.
Ambassador Sir Ronald Sanders stated:
“The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is deeply concerned about the impact of this proclamation on our citizens. We are actively engaging with U.S. authorities to seek clarification and to ensure that the interests of our nationals are protected. I have begun discussions with the U.S. State Department for clarity on all aspects of this matter, including the position of persons with visas issued before December 31, 2025. Our general objective is to engage fully with the U.S. Government to discuss the concern expressed about the basis for the visa restrictions, namely that ‘Antigua and Barbuda has historically had Citizenship by Investment without residency’. Our efforts are directed at reaching understandings with the U.S. Government that would allow the restoration of visas to Antigua and Barbuda nationals”.

The Embassy will provide further information as discussions proceed with the U.S. authorities.

The US cannot be blamed for their stance. The only ones to blame is the ignorant government of Antigua and Barbuda. Why are you still insisting on CIP without proper residence requirements? What is the real purpose of only havig a 30-day residency requirement. I agree that it is a security risk to the US. Cut the nonsense out and fix it. We have had several warnings from multiple countries about this practice. Now all citizens must suffer because of the greed of a few. What they need to do is kick out all of the Antiguan ambassadors in the US and deny entry to diplomats, then maybe they will understand the effect of what they have been doing to regular people. It seems that our government thinks they are brighter than everyone else. Now they should understand that they are being watched and how helpless we actually are.
Well said I agree.
America is doing the same damn thing. The only difference is that it cost more money for the American passport. We are too dependent on corrupt America and that’s why the Caribbean, especially are soo vulnerable (we made ourselves that way). We have some highly educated, brilliant dunces running our countries who, are mostly concern about their pockets and pushing our islands down the hills. We need a “Traore” in the Caribbean. Trump and America are blood suckers, they care nothing about us. The whole Caribbean need to unite and to end this slave mentality
This is a huge diplomatic failure on the part of our mission in Washington and maybe it’s time that we adjust and change the Diplomatic Representation for our US embassy there. Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Lucia are other OECS countries providing Citizenship by Investment Programe and nothing was said about them. Earlier this year, there was information of concern coming out of the White House about our CBI program and a clear directive to include a period of residency component was given. It is pelucid that our failure to act and get back to the White House in a timely manner has put us in this predicament. Again this is a Diplomatic failure of epic proportion and a huge embarrassment to Antigua and Barbuda and its citizens. Maybe ir is time to send our Washington Diplomatic to China instead.
Antigua first, ur probably not antiguan, it’s time the world pull away from America and stop depend on them, the entire world should stop dealing with them and every one in the world should restrict them. They always want control everyone
Look where this has gotten us sometime is best too leave what dont concern us as a nation
Totally agree with you @Antigua First. The US Gov. is targeting the wrong people. Let them target the diplomats and all exempt officials… then we will see some quick action.
Who didn’t expect this action from the US, head buried in the money.
At Antigua first, i fully agree with you my friend! Couldnt say it better… .. @ chuppz… u are as dunce as it gets but I hope one day u will see the bigger picture and stop allowing ignorance to control your mind
@Antigua First
This has NOTHING to do with our CIP. They wanted to re-establish a base here and store weapons in their efforts to destabalize Venezuela. Our government said no. They are lashing back. You all always so quick to cast blame at a government that you all don’t like. Get your FACTS straight. Shit man! And you all want to say you all love country.
We just declared we are moving away from pledging allegiance to the King. And you suggesting we bend over and take it from the USA. Such hypocritical position…..
@Audley Phillip.
You have it TOTALLY wrong. This has NOTHING to do with our Mission in Washington. The US government wanted to re-establish a base, store weapons. Our government under the leadership of PM Gaston Browne said no! We are a zone of peace. And they do not like the position we are taking. That is ALL. This has NOTHING to do with CIP. You guys are the so-called media people. Do your research and keep the people informed. It is ALL in the media.
SHOW SOME LOVE FOR YOUR COUNTRY!!!
@Antiguan to the bone…I’m quite sure, that you know, the USVI and Puerto Rico have American military establishments there which deals with all types of criminal activities and they are located a #tobacco_spitoon from Antigua.

We were warned about visa restrictions when we were launching the CIP … did our government listen or care? No…
I woke up this morning saying is dream i was dreaming. Families are split across borders and now we are being treated like a security threat. This is unfair and painfulun
I already have a visa and travel plans for early 2026. Nobody is giving clear answers. so what shall we do and for those who already have tickets do we get a refund
The U.S. flexes its power knowing small countries have limited leverage. The imbalance is obvious. Big countries make decisions; small ones absorb the shock.
I was appalled by this man behavior on ABS during the news Tuesday.
Like Trump he too will not serve in that post forever. He should humble himself his pompous ass.
Not like I ever had respect for him but if I did he would have lost it all during that interview
