A St. Thomas man who went missing over seven years ago should be declared dead, says his sister, in a petition recently filed with the Superior Court.
Gaston Brown, born July 11 1942 in Antigua & Barbuda, was a taxi driver who lived in Water Bay Villas on St. Thomas.
On April 30 2018, a 75-year old Brown was brought some food by his caretaker. After that, he wandered away from the house. Some time later, a woman called police to report that a man was in her yard. Police reportedly picked him up and dropped him off at Ft. Mylner as per his request, and Mr. Brown was never seen again.
In the filing, Mr. Brown’s sister said that neighbors and his caretaker searched for him after he failed to return home, and news of his disappearance was circulated on social media and local news outlets. Family members inquired with “hospitals, morgues, social services, and other institutions,” and made contact with “friends, relatives, and known associates” – all to no avail.
Since Mr. Brown has now been missing for seven years “without contact and despite diligent search,” his sister says it is now time to officially declare her brother deceased.

I believe he was somehow transformed and appeared somewhere else as a rouge Prime Minister, no wonder this place is so hellish. Just sent him back from whence he came
What kind of news is that ? Is ANR staffs now senile ? Make that news make sense to me or is it a threat to someone in Antigua who goes by that same name ?. What prompted ANR to write such an article ?.
@visionary – your comment is very dumb.
Yall take everything for a joke
@ Smh,
Most of your comments are so dumb; that I think they are a joke.
I suspect the article is a part of the process to declare him dead.
The public announcement may trigger new information.
A serious story but one that could be funny. Good seeds have a way of germinating and springing up when planted. I wondered if Mr Gaston Brown was unknowingly planted somewhere and from that seed grew our Honourable Prime Minister Gaston Browne today? I am sure this story brought some chuckles from the Prime Minister. By the way, he could almost resemble the Deputy Governor General.
Let me guess, once the official declaration is made the headline would be “Gaston Browne declared dead” just for clicks and views.
The man being living in St.Thomas for most of his life, a known taxi driver, he was declared missing years ago and remained missing to this day. I guess his family is now giving up and wants to declare him dead.
I want to believe they didn’t hear the news of this Wadadli woman also declared being missing, then after thirty years showed up alive and well.
This gentleman was my paternal uncle, after whom I was named.
He was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and disappeared from his home, several years ago without a trace.
His family members are seeking to recover his real estate, bank deposit, taxi medallion and other assets.
The publication is a legal requirement to facilitate the claim to the deceased assets.
Blessings,
Thank you PM.
