Member of Parliament Asot Michael made a return to the parliamentary chambers yesterday, marking his first appearance since being suspended for three sittings.
Michael, a seasoned politician, had been suspended by the Speaker following misconduct allegations during parliamentary proceedings.
The suspension was initiated by the Speaker, who called on fellow MPs to move a motion for Michael’s temporary removal from the parliamentary sessions.
The decision prompted varied reactions, with some expressing support for the disciplinary action, while others argued that it was an excessive measure.
Undeterred by the suspension, MP Asot Michael has taken the matter to court, challenging the validity and fairness of the decision.
Legal experts suggest that the case could set a precedent for future parliamentary conduct issues and the extent to which punitive measures can be taken.
Michael’s return to the parliament coincided with the swearing-in ceremony of MP Kelvin Shugy Simon, adding a layer of intrigue to the proceedings.
The suspended MP was seen engaging with colleagues and participating in the celebratory atmosphere, despite his ongoing legal battle.
However, it is clear that the situation has stirred discussions within the parliamentary circles regarding the appropriateness of the suspension and the broader implications for parliamentary decorum.
As the legal challenge unfolds, all eyes are on the courtroom to determine whether Asot Michael’s suspension will be upheld or overturned.
The case has sparked debates about the balance between maintaining order within the parliament and ensuring the rights of individual members to participate fully in the democratic process.

Can someone explain why the Ministry of Health hasn’t taken any action on the apartment complex by Epicurean area that has its waste water settling on Lauchland Henry Drive infront of Canada Place. This is a health hazzard an eyesore and this jokey government has done absolutely nothing because of friend and company. As motorist traverse the area the filthy smelling water splashes. The whole area is downright filthy. This country is a real cartoon place.
The politicians in this country only see things like this when it comes to the smaller man.
According to melford nicholas, ministers of government are in charge and civil servants have to do what they say.
I guess molwyn did not hear melford or maybe the memo missed him.
We will watch and see if gaston the clown fire Molwyn for this travesty.
A bunch of idiots they (the cabinet) are, in my opinion.
If he is no longer suspended, wouldn’t that issue be moot? Unless other remedy is being sought, like legal remedy, money?
Nice to see Asot back in our Parliament.
Asot was the first one to put a r***ing on gaston (Turner was just a fit-in).
Then Shugy put another r***ing on gaston (the muscle bound idiot was just a fit-in).
Soon, gaston will be defeated in the House of Parliament as his fit-in in the House will be found wanting.
Big up Asot. Dem go tired fu see you face…….

Why no mention of the fact that AM, has lost at-least so far, in the courts on the matter? The lower court has ruled that AM is wrong to bring this matter to court (see High Court Rejects MP Asot Michael’s Attempt to Overturn Suspension, August 23, 2023). Is this man a Donald Trump where persons try to ignore facts? Its like Suggy has become his new poe ( Night toilet. )
Good to see Asot Michael return to Parliament; although I’d watch your back when standing close to Gaston Browne, and mek sure you wearing gum shields to protect yourself – because you don’t want the Prime Minister 🥸 knocking 🤜🏽 out ya teeth🦷🦷🦷 unexpectedly!
@Tenman
You find comfort in your use of famous peoples name Baghdad Joe George Bush now Trump.
The analogy you use is not becoming a graduate of New Jersey or SMU.
Trump shenanigans with the Courts are part of his I’m a victim presidential campaign.
Asot is not using or manipulating the Courts to gain political advantage . He is using the Court to judicate if he was lawfully removed from Parliament.
Your parting statement is out of the book of the toxic and degrading Gaston Brown.
Shuggy is now an elected member of Parliament. Attack his positions… attack his proposed policies; but no just like Gaston Brown it’s lies or degrading attacks against his opponents. Shuggy towers over Asot any you compares him to shit.
I should not be surprised at your sensibility, being a loyalist to one of the most corrupt politicians the Caribbean has seen.
