St. Paul MP Chet Greene Pays Tribute to Two Beloved Community Members

ST. PAUL, Antigua and Barbuda — The Member of Parliament for St. Paul, Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, has extended heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of two cherished women from the Liberta and Tyrell’s communities, whose recent passing has left many in mourning.

In a moving tribute, MP Greene expressed the depth of sorrow that has swept through the community, describing the recent spate of deaths as unlike anything he can recall in his lifetime.

“It feels as though we are mourning daily, with each loss casting a deeper shadow of grief over us all,” Greene said, reflecting on the shared pain now felt throughout the district. “Our once vibrant streets now echo with the silence of absence and familiar faces are conspicuously missing.”

Among those being remembered are Carol Althea “Sharon” Spencer, affectionately known as “Wee Wee’s daughter,” who passed away on March 26 at the age of 54. Born on June 26, 1970, Sharon was a well-loved figure in the Quarry Hill area of Tyrell’s, known for her warmth and deep ties to the community.

Just a short distance away, the Joseph family is also grieving the loss of Iris Joseph-Henry, daughter of Erick and Cassilda, who died on March 30 at the age of 68. Iris had been living in the United States at the time of her passing.

Greene acknowledged the emotional toll of these losses, noting how the grief of one family is felt by all. “The intertwining of these losses has left an indelible mark on our community, highlighting the way in which grief knows no boundaries.”

As the community reflects on the lives of Sharon and Iris, Greene called attention to the shared memories and bonds that continue to unite residents, even in grief.

“Each story shared and each tear shed brings us closer together, reminding us of the fragility of life and the importance of community,” he said. “Together, we honor their legacies and hold them close in our hearts.”

On behalf of the Liberta community, Greene extended love, prayers, and unwavering support to the grieving families. He encouraged them to find solace in cherished memories and strength in the unity of the people around them.

Both Sharon Spencer and Iris Joseph-Henry leave behind not only families who loved them deeply but also a community that will continue to celebrate their lives and the impact they had on those around them.
